I have three Yashica cameras, a Minister III 35mm rangefinder and two Yashica EM 120 TLRs that need looking at. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. The Minister III has the plastic housing in front of the rangefinder loose and the shutter needs looking at. The two EMs have similar problems. Regardless whether I shoot indoor with flash or outdoors with no flash I get horizontal streaks on all frames. Is there such a condition as shutter lag?.

Hi Doug.
With the yashica EM's it sounds like you've set the flash setting on the camera to M instead of X. I've never heard of a leaf shutter being able to do what you describe on it's own because of it's inherent design.

I originally thought that as well but I shot a roll of B&W neg with the switch in X sync and got the same result. This occurred in both cameras. Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, I shot another roll of B&W neg in both cameras with the sync switches on X and the same result that is why I was inquiring about a repair person.

I’ll second contacting Mark Hama. He’s repaired and CLA’d at several of my Ministers and Electros and has always done wonderful work on them.
