XTOL German version translation help, please

On Kodak's german site there is no XTOL-manual in German.

Only a pdf with an english version (J-109).

I have got the (somewhat older) german version in my archive, but no link.

Piece of cake. A link even. Follow the link. Once there, save the PDF file to your computer. Print. Bind. Save for future use. This publication's primary value are the old 1:2 & 1:3 times that Kodak stopped publishing a few years ago.

ps: I don't understand the problem. If you're using the latest and greatest Kodak Tmax 400 film (and it is very nice), then Kodak's latest and greatest technical publication seems like the correct place to get information. What am I missing? Here it is. The NEW Tmax 400 Gospel according to Kodak. No emails required.

The problem is ME.

This whole issue started when my film came out too contrasty. One of the possibility being over-development, I started looking at all the docs on XTOL and TMAX. I wanted to try diluting 1:1 or beyond so that I have a better control and the time does not get shorter than 5 min in my target temperature. That lead to the German version. I cross checked some figure to the US version that didn't match. I cross checked to the Japanese version that made the confusion even bigger.

I guess the problem was my assuming, if the doc is on Kodak's site, it must refer to the current version of the product. Apparently, many docs are still out there and they refer to the older version of Tmax 400. (by the way, they don't agree with each other either)

One of the benefit of all this excercise is that I found a statement on the latest doc that development time is based on time it takes to produce a good contrast on DIFFUSION enlarger. It says to reduce the contrast by shortening development time if one is using CONDENSER type enlarger. (which I do), then points to another part of the doc.

It lists that for D-76, one must shorten time by 20% if using condenser type. Unfortunately, it says nothing about XTOL developer.... Argh!

Ah, the old enlarger fudge factor. Cool. Personal refinement is usually required.
