I've decided to give this combination a try despite being reasonably happy with PanF in D76 1:3. With this original combination I was exposing at EI32.

Has anyone got any experience with Xtol and PanF, especially at higher dilutions like 1:2 and 1:3. I'm about to run some tests but a point int he right direction would be great.

Thanks very much, Matt.

not as sharp as Perceptol 1+2 or D76 dilute

Dear Matt,

I have not used PanF+ in Xtol at dilutions beyond 1:1, but If you like I can e-mail you an old Xtol data sheet with the Kodak tested times for the higher dilutions.

hey matt

i don't have a lot of experience with it, but i'll give you what i know.

i just recently bought a zero image pinhole and ran a roll of pan f+ through it at iso 50. i devved it in XTOL 1+3, 12 minutes at 20 degrees. i agitated four times to start, then 4 times per minute. the results were nice for what i was trying to accomplish (moody, drama). here's an example: http://areaeleven.com/photographs/217/

i had previously ran a roll though another camera and over-agitated it (i think it was the first full minute) and i did not like the results.

hope that helps in a small way!

Thanks very much everyone, that's just the sort of information I needed, especially the Covington page.

Those images are great Chris, can you give me a bit of detail on how you exposed it in those conditions. Are the scans of negs or prints?

I think I'll try it at 1:2 to make sure it doesn't get exhausted before completing development of the highlights.
