I've seen a few posts here and there about folks undertaking Xpan rangefinder adjustments on their own. To be honest, the idea makes me a little nervous, as it's not an easy piece of gear to replace. On the other hand, shipping it and its lenses to New Jersey to be repaired also makes me a little nervous.

Adjusting for infinity seems simple enough, but is that adequate for calibrating a rangefinder? Or does one also need to adjust at other distances? I have all three lenses for the camera, and they're all out of alignment at infinity, so I'm inclined to send it in rather than fiddle with it on my own.

I'm curious what other peoples' experiences with this might be.

It was so quick and easy and focus is spot on everywhere.

Thanks for the tip. When I got the shoe off it seemed that someone else had adjusted it before, because the Loctite seemed to be gone. It wound up being doable, if a little fiddly. It's very difficult to see down into cavity, especially to get a screwdriver into that adjustment screw. I wound up using my iPhone with a manual camera app that allows you to manually set the focus, and combined with the flash LED and the zoom I was able to see well enough to get the screwdriver into place. I'm thankful that worked, I really didn't want to send it in.

With a dental pick (one that has a metal tip). And a tiny flat blade screwdriver.

Hello Huss!
What link was that where you shared your experiences? I could really need help with the process... I have never done this but need to adjust the rangefinder... There is no instruction anywhere...
Thanks!
