Wanting to compare notes, and refine my process,...I was wondering what other folks tend to end up dialing in for filtration when printing XP2 Super. I use Agfa, and Ilford FB papers, and find that on an LPL, I often use 40 - 100 units of Magenta, but no yellow. I love the film for scenes where there's enough contrast, becaue it holds the highlights so well, but haven't been so thrilled by the results with low contrast lighting.

nb. I usually rate it at e.i 200

XP2 is great for scenes with high contrast but too soft for low-contrast scenes. I usually print it at grade 4. Nevertheless, if you develop the film yourself, you can modify exposure and development time (ala Zone System) to work the film from N-2.5 to N+1.5.

Depending on the shot, I've gotten good prints with a #2 filter, though 2 1/2 is more common. In my gallery, the image of the boots and the chair is with a #2 1/2 on Ilford MGFB. I've found that XP-2 is closer to regular B&W than Kodak's C41 B&W.
