Dear APUG/Photorio Members,

Was reading this morning 1/11/2018 that Xerox was with the help of Carl Ichan was in talks
to purchase/merge Fuji Film, not sure what this fortells for Fuji, as I am still reeling from the FP-100c
availability and tripling the retail price, and from past experience, not sure Xerox is the best
partnership on this.....

Just though I would throw that out there...

Just got same information when I looked at WSJ this morning.....
The good news is there should be better availability of Fuji Products.....in USA (Hopefully)

You're aware that Fuji-Xerox has operated as a joint venture for years, right? That's why if you buy a small Xerox-branded laser printer, you'll find that it's actually a Fuji-Xerox product.

Exactly. Fujifilm has been working with Xerox for decades.

Edit: Fuji and Xerox have had a partnership (called Fuji Xerox) for 55 years.

Xerox is NOT buying Fujifilm. If anything it is THEY who are being bought. Fujifilm is a stable company. Xerox is not.

Fuji & Xerox have a joint-venture dating back to the early 1950s (FujiXerox). Perhaps Fuji wishes to divest their share for not-a-lot-of-money (read a description of the joint venture's offerings and it will not be difficult to assume that this is the case) and Xerox wishes to buy it.

Yep. In news today, Fuji is completing the integration of all Xerox into Fuji Xerox and owing 50.1% of Xerox.

I saw that. I guess Fujifilm is going to go against the grain and keep the Xerox name. Most corporate takeovers end up EOL-ing the take over target's name.

Pretty reconizable name, though...

That is a "Xerox Copy" you want

Since Fuji-Xerox has been a joint venture, and they are wrapping the rest of Xerox into Fuji-Xerox, maintaining the Xerox brand makes sense. (of course they could call it Haloid Corp  )

Since I have no control I will wait and see.

Fuji has had a Japanese presence at Xerox for years. There are groups of them working at the "Campus" here in Webster.

If people really followed the industry, then they would not have to wipe up coffee all over the room.

It's been many many years since I have heard anyone use Xerox as a verb. Quite different back in the day of course.

Lots of famous brands have disappeared after corporate takeovers.

They used to Kodak something as well when they meant to take a picture of something.

Fuji is indeed buying Xerox and it was quite the item on the local evening news here. I have two family members working there and they are amidst groups of Japanese co-workers.

Fortune Magazine came in the mail today - Xerox was going to call off the deal. latest on the web may indicate that Xerox has more chaos than Kodak ever thought of.

LOL. Kodak had 128,000 employees at one point. Today they have less than 6,000. You think Xerox has had more chaos than that?
