X-ray film

Before the Cameramakers list re-located to Yahoo, there were some folks there who had experimented with x-ray film for optical photography. Re-organized list seems to be missing those people.

Anyone here do such experiments?

There is a very comical guy on the LF mailing list that uses X-Ray film for an ULF Shen Hao he bought in China. He goes by the name of Uncle Dick, he is very helpful and I am sure we would share his experiences with using this film.

Have not seen any recent posts, but as soon as I do I will forward you his email address.

x-ray film for conventional photo

Some (but maybe not all) x-ray films are double-sided. A lot of pinhole photographers were using x-ray film in the 80s and 90s when Freestyle had it cheap. Being double sided, it probably isn't as sharp as "normal" films, but otherwise, works fine. Further, the stuff I used had rounded corners, and a blue cast to the base. One of these days I'll get back to my pinhole work with my stocks of x-ray and aerial roll films.

I think most is double emulsion which makes for blur with our kind of use, but there are single-side x-ray films.

Some people do something to remove colored base in the developing process; might have been water soak first.

Some is blue-sensitive and some is green-sensitive.

That's all I've found out so far.
