X-Ray film Fuji + VC paper

I’m shooting 8x10 Xray film fuji with blue layer, i would like to enlarge and use like a negative. I i use with variable contrast paper will the blue layer act as a filter? I mean like a contrast filter

When you say blue layer on xray film, do you mean a blue filter?

Hello Andy, no. I mean ir use HR-U blue base layer. It‘s not transparent like film.

I ask because i have to use 4 or 5 filter to print. I did btzs and my n time is ok and my grad 0,68

It's quite possible that the blue coloured base will affect contrast on VC paper. You would think that the blue would increase the contrast. I've only printed xray negatives for Alt. processes.

It is, but I never noticed it - and to be frank, I never worried about it either. I've shot a bit of blue-based x-ray film and enlarged it onto VC paper, too. Contrast filters worked normally.

Look at it this way - if all you throw onto the film is green light, the blue tint to the base will never make that light go blue, will it? So naturally, this won't limit your lowest attainable contrast, since that will still be pure green light. On the opposite side, pure blue light will still give the highest grade the paper can do for you. So there's no problem there, either.
In the middle, there may or may not be a little shift with your grade 2 filter maybe giving 2.3 or so. IDK. I'd just not worry about it.

No experience with x-ray film, but I did shoot the old Arista in 120 back when Formapan was still using that oh so wonderful and never sufficiently cursed curly blue film base. Never seen any effect of the color when using it with VC papers.

I'm still nibbling my way through a package of Fuji HR-T which is green sensitive film but does indeed show a hint of bluish coloration in the film base. (Scanning as color and inverting gives a nice sepia-like tone in positives!) I have settled on giving fairly high exposure (EI 50 or so) and pulled development to tame contrast -- things like HC110 1+63 for 3:30. I have no 8x10 enlarger, so I make contact prints using my Omega B-8 as a light source. I find I get a decent range of contrasts by using the Ilford VC filters in the enlarger head.

So I'm inclined to think you won't see a problem. I've not yet seen or tried the HR-U flavor but have the impression it's just an updated latest, greatest version of HR-T. Guess one of these days I'll find out. I might add my 8x10 shooting is via pinhole. There are some examples in my gallery here.
