Recently I made the mistake of letting my undeveloped film go through an X-ray baggage scanner when I visited a museum in Italy. I had a roll of Ilford HP5+ in my Minolta, which was inside my backpack that was scanned. It had already 30 shots on that roll which I have underexposed one stop (pushing to ISO 800). I also had a roll of unexposed Kodak Gold inside.

Has anyone had similar accidents? What should I expect from these rolls? Should I proceed with pushing the film?
Thanks in advance!

If the films are affected at all depends on the type of X-ray machine involved.

If the scanner is of a similar kind to what used to be airport hand luggage scanners then a once scan shouldn't be a problem. Depending on how much trouble this will be to do It might be worth checking with the museum to find out the age of the scanner to see if it on the older kind

Knowing which kind it is will not help in the practical sense but will just warn you that damage to the film is possible. I'd develop it as if it had never passed under a baggage scanner.

Let us know how it goes

If you're saying it went through checked luggage scanner, then you are hooped. You will most likely see bands running across the images. Do a google image search of x-ray damaged film. That'll give you a idea of what to expect.

Andrew, isn't there a chance that museum scanners may be more like the former hand luggage scanners that were used when passengers passed through the checks at airports prior to boarding. If this is the case and the film was only scanned once then isn't there a good chance that it might be OK?
