Lucky you for having The film cutter guy! I had to buy my own on Ebay. But still, If he cuts perforated 70mm to 120, you are short 1mm on width. No problem for the camera magazine, but for loading in the reel. Unless he is cutting just one side off and leaving one row of perforation and right width of 61mm.
In the last year or so I'm saving all of mine used 120 backing paper and rolls.
Quite interested in Ilford 70mm run. Magazine I'm using is taking perforated film, but i heard that using non-perforated film in it is OK??? Looking forward for their prices?

Yes prices would be nice to know...

He does slit one side only, see my gallery... Some of the more recent ones of tall grass are the cut film

Yes, the Nikor 116 reel fits in a normal Q15 tank. (The one that holds two 35mm reels.) It's a little roomier in the rare Q18 tank, which was really for the "cut film holder". (The Q18 also holds a pair of Hewes 35mm reels, which the Q15 won't.)

The 118 and 122 reels need taller tanks. They came with custom tanks, but they weren't "quick fill", so I normally use them with a Q30 tank and an empty reel at the top to take up space. Well, I've never used the 118 reel, but do use the 122 reel for my stock of VP122.

Here myself jumping aboard! Dunno if OP found it but I have the same problem with a Yankee tank that is too slow for filling and dropping the chems.
If anybody has or sees any 116/616 steel reel, let me know
I have two cameras and 70mm film... it's just I would like to do the operation quicker

I have an old FR tank I use for odd film sizes. If development timing is tight then I fill the tank with the lights on and then load the reel in the dark, drop it in the tank and put the lid on. Reverse for emptying.

OP here. Wow, what a blast from the past this discussion is! Anyway, yes I did end up finding the SS 116 reel I was looking for. Here is a picture for a size comparison if anyone is interested - 116 reel on the left, a 120 reel in the center, and the 127 on the right.

Don't remember exactly. Could have been eBay, but possibly Craigslist or the local camera swap meet.
