Want to Buy WTB: Nikon F100

FYI the F80/N80 is a superb camera and works great w G lenses. Also dirt cheap.

Ha, I did not know those worked with G lenses. I found an F5, good to get something I am familiar with (its honestly not heavy with a sling strap).

I used that with my Sigma Art G lenses! Really goes to prove it aint the body!

F5 is awesome, it may be good to have an F80 or 75 as 'back up' for little money.

I use the Nikon F100 and I prefer it to the F5 because it is lighter and costs less. More film for me.

Yes, it works. I use the Sigma Art 35 and 50. Both are great. The other Sigma Art lenses will NOT work as they have the electronic apertures.

I am looking for a decent copy of the 20-35. So far all my lenses are Telephotos, 85mm being the "widest".

I don't think any third party lenses are type E.

All kidding aside, I really like the Nikon 50 1.4D , 28-105 D, 24mm 2.8D etc on my F4. Super on film. On the F6 I prefer G-type lenses as the F6 does not have the dials/knobs/haptics (same with the F100/F5) that compliments D lenses' aperture rings (which frankly are kinda cr@ppy feeling - nothing like the aperture rings on AI-S or older glass).
Film does not have the resolution to show off what ART lenses are capable of, but it is still nice to use them for their modern coatings and look - if that is what you want.

Forgot to ask - which G lenses do you have?
The 24-120 G (latest version) is great on film. My Nikon Gs are that, the 60 micro, 50 1.8G (actually makes the camera fun to use as so light), 80 1.8G (awesome on film).

I have never tried a G lens. I understand that they are good.

I have a 60/2.8G (and also a 85/1.4D and an afs 300/4). My friend is loaning me an afs 17-35 and I want one, but prices are still high. I was actually looking at the 24-120, but if i am going for a wide ish lens, I want something fast at least 2.8 as I also do some wide field Astro. The sigma 35mm art is the top choice.

I think all the Tamron G2 lenses are of the "E" variety too. If all I had was digital I would have went with those, but I need to juggle it for a few types of Nikon mounts (Z mount, and the Nikon F with the D700 which works with E but the F5 which doesnt). I am actually trying to see if an AIS or AI wide angle would be fine, I have had the 28/2.8AIS and 35/1.4 before and they were pretty good, pretty bad for Milky way pictures though.

I just tried the Tamron SP 35/1.4 and it works with the F5. I'll post some pictures soon. This lens is something else.
