I sold the item I was looking to trade for this, so now I'm on the hunt for a 5cm/50mm ƒ1.4 Nikkor in Leica Thread Mount.

Cosmetics are not the end all and be all so long as it has clean optics (a little haze is ok, if it can be cleaned, and I can live with light cleaning marks) and smooth mechanics.

I'd prefer not to exceed the $350 range, which seems to be the high mean on the e(vil)Bay.

Please PM me and we can talk details - I'd prefer a US purchase if possible.

Thank you!

Thank you for the link - a little high, I think, for me (though that 5005 lens is certainly valuable)...still looking!

I had an ƒ2.0 Nikkor a while back, was in the 5005 serial block - mine had scratches has a heavily damaged front element. Aside from that, it was a interesting performer.

There is the ZM sonnar clone /1.5?

Or the Canon /1.5 from '55.

I think both the Nikkor and Canon are direct descendants of the Zeiss Sonnar - from what I've read on Dante Stella the Nikkor was optimized for close up and the Canon for middle distances. Nippon Kogaku and Canon both improved on the design as they went on, for all I know.

I've actually had an interesting proposition for a Summarit 1.5...unless a Nikkor turns up here I might have to go for it :whistling:. Completely different beast to the Sonnars, though.
