Good freakin' luck. I've got a bakers dozen vintage whole plate film holders, and all of them need some degree or other of overhaul. And I feel extremely lucky to have those.

They're not that hard to find. I have a bunch of Toyo whole plate holders that are in excellent or better condition.

Check an eBay seller called tokyophoto and if he doesn't have anything listed send him a message. He will sometimes have Toyo or Rittreck holders.

You need to be careful about what camera you're trying to fit. There's no ANSI or other industry standard for WP holders. I've not seen any of the Toyo holders in the flesh, but I've owned Rittreck WP holders. The external dimensions are different compared to vintage American holders or to holders currently manufactured by Chamonix, Lotus or Ebony. Even if you don't mind fudging the T-distance and GG register, they're narrower but longer than the other WP holders, and might not physically fit into some camera backs without surgery on the back or the holders.

Good point re: compatibility. I use my Toyo holders in a Toyo back so I can't confirm if they would fit anything else.

The Kodak Whole plate camera takes standard International sized film/plate holders.

There was a British Standard for Whole plate after WWII and the British Standards became part of the International later ISO standard. Whole plate was a British format, Rod's Kodak camera (when it arrives) was made in the UK. I had a Whole plate/Half plate /5x4 De Vere Monorail and it took Kodak whole plate holders.

The Eastman holders are the closest thing to a "standard" for Whole Plate. They're the basis for the modern WP holders made by Ebony, S&S and a couple others. But there are other competing sizes out there, as previously noted.

I have the list of post WWII British Standards, they would contain the relevant Whole plate size which was used by Kodak UK and other British manufacturers. Unlike the US book-form plate (& film) holders were the norm before WWII except on Kodak (inc Graflex) cameras. Kodak manufactured their own cameras here in the UK but post WWII there were few companies making whole plate cameras here. De Vere, Gandolfi & Watson, and possibly MPP are the only companies that spring to mind aside from Kodak UK. Watson cameras were by then made under sub contract by Gandolfi and could still be bought with a book-form type back or a modern spring back up until around 1960.

One consequence is that few modern style Whole plate holders are available, my two that came with my De Vere in 1976 fell to bits, I'm not sure they survived my last move but they were in poor condition.

I rarely see any plate/film holders (except modern 5x4 or metal quarter plate or 9x12) unless with a camera at the camera fairs I go to but I know some stall holders have said they have boxes full of them at home.

If you are looking for Eastman-format holders, try Alan W. Brubaker or S&S. They both will make them new, but I don't know if you'll like the price.
