Want to Buy WTB MF camera

looking for a MF camera
here's the criteria
no folders, no TLRs no prewar stuff, or press cameras or graflex
that was me in a former life !
looking for something kind of modern either square format, or rectangular is OK
mainly looking use it to shoot portraits .. tired of looking DOWN .. so prism is GOOD
changable lenses is good vertical is important 6x45 won't work unless it can rotate ..

oh and im a cheapskate, and i don't mind junk lenses or russian cameras as long as they work

sounds like you want a Pentax 67 or 45. The 45 has the advantage that it is more "hand holdable" and in my opinion, less "fragile."

No, but the last time I was in Marks Photo and Video in Grand Rapids, MI they did have one of each. About $400 for the 45.

Mamiya 645, Bronica 645 or 6x6, range finders, Hassy, Pentax 645, Contax?

Mamiya 6, 6MF, 7, 7ii, 645 AFD's (I, II, III) - The Rangefinder's would not give tight portraits but will give good results for 1/2 height or full length portraits.

Fuji GS645 Pro or Zi Pro
Contax 645

While a little heavy an RB67 or RZ67 with AE Prism would do it. the RZ67 you can even shoot 645, 6x7 and even 6x6 or digital (with the IID version + digital plate) just by changing the film back. Both these have rotating backs so no need to turn the camera to shoot vertical portraits.

LOL! The Pentax 67 is not fragile (and has better quality lenses than 645). War-torn, beaten, bashed, bombed and buggered specimens of the Pentax 6x7 /7 are still in use...

The RB, RZ and Pentax 67 are tanks! as said they have a great series of lenses too.

Bronica SQ or GS fits the bill and the leaf shutters give more capability with electronic flash. They're quite compact, have excellent lenses and are value-priced. The GS is a 6X7 which may be had with a prism finder which swiveled for horizontal or vertical shooting. An RZ67 would be pretty nice too but lots more dough.

Dead Link Removed, just how cheap are you ? I have an excellent condition Hasselblad 500 ELX body with a Rooski prism finder. I got it in an auction lot from an estate. I converted it to use 2x9V batteries. I put 4 rolls of B&W film through it to test my three A12 magazines and my one A24 magazine. The body performed flawlessly. I have no idea what she is worth but I do know that apparently the ELX is currently the best deal in the Hassy V System world . . .

Easy to do there, you may want to leave before the dollar table opens

I will be there at the VCP table, I don't think we currently have any MF cameras though, but I can check.

I have a minty Kiev 88CM outfit with 6x6 120 back, 80/2.8 Arsat lens and WLF, all very late production and marked "Made in Ukraine". No prism finder or strap but these are readily available. This is the version which takes Kiev 60 / Pentacon-6 lenses.

Also have a Hasselblad 500c w/A12 back, early WLF and 120mm S-Planar. Decent glass but cosmetics are pretty rough overall and it's more of a restoration project or parts unit and will need a fair amount of work before you can start taking photos with it.

I have a pistol grip that came with a Mamiya C330 with a prism. I did not like it for that camera nor for the Hasselblad with a prism. Both were too top heavy and that if moves the hands away from the controls that they were design to be operating.
