I have an extra brand new Copal No 9 shutter that I want to use. I'd love to find a set of elements to put on it. An aperture plate for it would be awesome.

if you can find the "right" g claron, the lens just screws into your shutter !

Focal length?

I know 210mm is out of the question if I want something faster than f9 or so, it seems, but I'm not too picky, I think. I'm picking up a 90mm f9 soon, so if it's something faster, that'll be great. I have a 135mm without a flash sync port, so that's open too as I want to use flash.

Thanks. I've gotta find the specs for the threading. Been keeping an eye out for a kit with a dead shutter.

A 210mm G Claron won't fit in a Copal No. 0 shutter, but a 210mm Repro Claron will.

If you can find one of the somewhat rare 203mm f7.7 Kodak Mount 370 Ektars, the cells are a direct fit in a Copal 0 shutter. It has to be the Mount 370 version. Most were in a Supermatic shutter and the Graphic version was in a Compur No. 1 shutter.

A British made 203mm f7,7 Ektar in an Epsilon the cells fit a Copal #0 (unlike the US ones), very nice lenses.

Ian

The Mount 370 British 203mm f7.7 Ektars also came in the Prontor SVS shutter, which also makes the cells a direct fit in a Copal/Compur shutter.

Yes you're right Kerry and they also later came in a Compur #0. The one's in the Kodak Epsilon shutters are less desirable so cheaper they have the sort lived bayonet flash sync, also it's the earlier version of the Epsilon shutters which is less reliable - I had one mine was OK but I sold it with a camera. I'd bought a bunch of shutters 6 actually sold in two sets of 3 for £20 ($26 at the time) and the only shutter with lens cells was a 203mm Ektar M370 Prontor SVS in mint condition so a great find. The downside to the Epsilon and Prontor SVS is the lack of a preview lever. the 203mm Ektar was the only LF lens Kodak Ltd made.

You're probably aware of the late US made 203mm f7.7 Ektars in the Graphic Compur #1, I bought one on this Forum maybe 18 months ago, with a sticky shutter now running like new.

I am going to do some tests with my newly acquired Docter Greminar W 150mm vs. the Rodenstock Geronar. Both of these fit in the Copal #0 shutter.

My go-to lens in this focal length is the Rodenstock APO Sironar S, so just wondering which alternative I should keep. I expect the Docter to be much sharper but the Geronar may have characters (Cooke Triplets) that I like. Decision, decision.

In any case, I *may* have a lens that would be suitable for your shutter at some points

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm just scowering the depths for almost any affordable normalish-short tele lens with pc sync.

I have a Nikon 60mm 2.8D I'm selling (trading) towards them.

Keep your eye's peeled here for a set of lens cells, also the LFP Forum For Sale also WTB section, you need to be a member a month before you can access the area though.

Pairs of lens cells do appera quite regularly I've bought CZJ 150mm f4.5 T Tessar, 150mm & 210mm Geronar, 150mm G Claron and 210mm f6.3 Osaka Commercial cells etc off both Forums, Only the 150mm Geronar & G Claron fit a #0 shutter though.

You're not looking for a short Tele that's a different design lens, you're looking for a longer than typical normal FL. The reality is you can probably buy a lens like a 203mm (8") f7.7 Ektar in a Supermatic shutter for less than you could sell the Copal #0 shutter for.

Well, it turns out the lens I got from a friend with the exact Copal 0 shutter doesn't have a retention ring and no PC sync port... so I had to repurpose the new shutter.

Speaking of which, does someone have a recent vintage Copal No. 0 that they want to unload? I have to replace a relatively recent one that (arrived) bent.
