I've been looking into different film recorders as well. I don't own a Lasergraphics.
I like a good challenge,
So here is a publicly available 1996 version of MacRascol which you install first:

https://web.archive.org/web/19961109060821/http://lasergraphics.com/pages/tsindex.htm
I installed version mr211p.sea first before version mr381.sea, but maybe you can just do 381 without 211.

This can be run on Windows 10 using the 2018 version of
http://www.columbia.edu/~em36/macos9win.html
Which is also on the wayback machine.
(the new version gives me a .dll error)

Heres some pictures of it working.

Let me know if you somehow manage to make it work with your recorder!
I don't know how hard it'd be to recognize a SCSI through a modern laptop with this emulation, but with a SCSI to USB maybe it is possible?

This may well be the hardest part, I am not sure how hardware would operate under that kind of emulation. May be easier to just get an old mac, the Ratoc adapter tends to go for more than a recorder does.

@TheMonarch I happen to have a key for WinRascol, message me if still required.

How many pins is it for the Ratoc to connect to the Lasergraphics? I know the basilisk emulator supports SCSI, also in the link above....yeah im not sure. I'll ask the emaculation forum.
I'm hoping someone with a Lasergraphics and windows computer could test out the above MasRascol to find out, I would love to see the errors.

@calebarchie Versions 211 and 381 are freely accesible on the wayback machine, and do not require a serial or license and are not trial versions. They run!

@calebarchie I am mistaken, I did not realize that the serial is on the film recorder itself for using the trial MacRascol 523t (within the emulator). I didn't have to go the length of doing the older versions.

But im confused, how were you able to get a copy of WinRascol Version 4 from that link? There is only the upgrade.
Even with the free 4.2 upgrade to a version 4, can 4.2 be run on Windows 10?

Running WinRascol 51t does indeed work on Windows 10, but it states
"a banner will appear on all film with this trial version"
Unless putting the serial in this trial version makes this banner go away?
In which case, im in the same boat as @TheMonarch since this emulator business is more complicated that just running it directly.

My goal is to run a Lasergraphics recorder from windows 10 if possible.

There are two seperate serials, one on machine and one for software. If the earlier versions do not ask for a software serial it may well work within the limitations of that older version. You need the 4.0 floppy to install 4.2 along with serial which I have.

I sold my film recorder while ago to a local member on this forum with the latest version of the software. You could try reaching out to him however seeing Lasergraphics will still happily sell you a license, I'd be wary sharing that.

Hey everyone I wanted to post an update so at least people in the future know what I did. Unless you have a license key winrascol will put a banner on your film, the copy of winrascol I got earlier this year in april was from the wayback machine. Lasergraphics told me when I contacted them that they don't support or sell licenses anymore for winrascol. I did however find software called raster plus that works with the lasergraphics device and has a 30 day free trial without limitations, I have been using that software https://photogize.net/rasterplus/.

@TheMonarch Nice! Are you running the LFR recorder from windows then with a parallel cable?
There was rasterplus95 (free) here: https://www.philpem.me.uk/code/filmrec/start?s[]=polaroid but Im not sure if it supports the LFR. This is for windows95 though.
I also managed to get a copy of Superprint 4 as well as Freedom of Press , both for windows.
I went deep into that rabbit hole at one point and now im forgetting if they support the LFR or not.
I can send these to you if you're feeling frisky and want to try them out.

@jsmoove I'm running the LFR from the SCSI cable on windows XP. I bought a windows XP PC off ebay for this along with a SCSI card (AdvanSys SCSI Card ABP-915). I'm using a HPDB50 to Centronics CN50 SCSI cable. Ill test out what you send me for science!

@TheMonarch Did you have any success?

@jsmoove Sounds like you have had some success. What was the winning combination for you? Emulated MacRascol? Also, I would love to take a look what what you found old software-wise.

@calebarchie I don't have DM permissions yet, but would appreciate any disk image and/or "fiddling" info you can share for 4.2

@chaseadam Hey, I never got any further than what I had thought would work....I don't actually own a film recorder at all. I would buy one if there was free open source software. I can send you files though if you want them.
The polaroid https://www.philpem.me.uk/code/filmrec/start?s[]=polaroid seems to be the way to go, but if you have a Lasergraphics, I don't know the solution at the moment.
I think @TheMonarch had got alot further than me and was testing a bunch of different things, like Superprint.

No, the only way i'm able to use it is with rasterplus, It works great the only downside is when the trial expires I have to reinstall everything. I did extensive testing with other software but I couldn't get it to work, It may be the hardware/scsi card I am using.

I got a machine from a friend but without any pc, software or cables. I have a winxp with pci and will try to source the same board as you have. I may need a different cable than yours no idea what agfa used but it should be here in a few days so I can look at it. I am actually considering changing some parts of it to a more capable screen @16k and maybe write my own software later on. The mechanism and motors for the filter's disk and camera connection should be easy to reuse these into a new system.
