It's marked with a "K", made in Germany, and the lid says Kindermann....why would you say it's not a kindermann. Now, the reels aren't kindermann. But the tank sure seems to be.

Not Kindermann I'm affraid!

It is stamped Kindermann on the base and the lid has Kindermann markings so I assume it is kindermann. Same marking that I have on my Kindermann tank that I have had for over thirty years. That would be a lot of work to mark up a steel tank in order to make a $20 sale. FYI this is not my add but thought I would be a good Photrio member and alert another member who is looking for a tank.

Oh, i know it's not your ad. thanks for pointing me to it. I did enter a bid, but there seems to be some heavy bidding on it, and I don't need the reels. There is another ebay non-auction for two tanks (one 4x and one 2x) but it seems to be kind of high priced.

One question, this particular auction doesn't have the lift rod. For a tank of this size (4x 35mm reels), how beneficial is the lift rod? Should I seek that out?

You are correct, I wasn't paying attention to the markings, however my looks way different, purchased new some 10 years ago. Unlike the one from the ebay mine is welded together, quite thick walls, the reels are different as well.

You are correct . As Punkzter noted the reels are not Kindermann. Kindermann reels have a black tab to insert the film leader.

I have the two reel tank so I am not familiar with a lift rod. I assume with a 4 reel it makes it convenient to not make contact with the chemistry. Other than that I cannot see it as a necessity.
FWIW, when I used to use tanks for 3 or 4 steel reels, I used to really appreciate having the lifting rod. Some of that may be due to the fact that I do most of my film handling with my fully dexterous left hand, as my right hand is more limited.

A lift rod is handy, but I've read of people using stainless steel rod to fashion a lift rod.

Stainless rod of the size of lifting rods can be bought at home stores like Home Depot.

It may be it is listed as 'wire', so be aware in online searches, and check plumbing supply as well.
