My understanding is that Kiev 88 CM's are decent cameras with very inexpensive parts and servicing (in eastern Europe) is easily available.

I've only seen and handled one, but it was much nicer than I'd been led to believe.

the kiev 88 in general is a soviet-made poor-quality copy of a camera design that the nice and very picky folks at Hasselblad couldn't get to work to their desires and so abandoned and went with shutters in the lenses. The examples I've handled all had severe issues, but if there is one out there that is reliable I sincerely hope this person finds it.

If it were me, I'd save my pennies and buy a Rollei, or Mamiya, or something similar. With the current market in film cameras, the difference in cost would be minimal...But that's me.
