Hello shaocaholica and welcome to APUG.

View cameras don't have range finders. Are you looking for a Press Camera?

Hello shaocaholica and welcome to APUG.

I'm not quite familiar with the terminology but I thought that a press camera can also be a view camera and the inclusion of a RF doesn't make it not still a view camera? In either case, I'm looking for a Graflex Graphic

The term View camera is a bit of a catch all because in the early days of photography simple tailboard cameras were known as View Cameras it was more about portability so that they could be used in the landscape compared to Portrait cameras which were often mounted on bulky frames and stands.

These days we tend to categorise View cameras differently so a Speed/Crown Graphic is a Press camera while a Super Graphic with is greater range of movements is a technical camera (as are MPPs And Linhof Technikas).

It would be useful to post were you are located as postage/shipping costs and import tax & duties can add very significantly to costs.

That comment is unnecessary nit picking, we all know what is meant - In any case the Linhof ST series function very well as view cameras and have rangefinders

I concur with Grumpy. What you call your Graflex doesn't change what it is. I have a Graflex Crown Graphic in which the rangefinder cable came apart and no longer works, so I use it as a view camera. ;-)

Ok, I've updated my location. Its Los Angeles if you don't want to scroll back to the top. Still looking for a Graflex.

... so what is your price range for a Super Graphic in complete working condition (including the electric release when batteries are present) with Optar 135 in Grpahex shutter?

No one has made an offer yet? There are millions of these all around the country. If I was getting around better I'd start digging through my boxes. I have several dozen stored away that I need to sell. I have at least dozen Super SG's alone. I'm just not able to dig through the boxes right now.

Thanks for the updates. ONF, you have several dozen?!?! Thats like crazy cat lady numbers

Anyway, I've more or less given up on ebay since stuff on there has really oddball prices or totally unknown condition with oddball prices. Just don't want to deal with having to chance it.

Anyway, ONF, if you can find a super or even better, super speed, I would be very grateful and might even consider buying more than one if the price is right.

(Regarding post #9) You can PM me your response if you so desire.

shaocaholica... I'll try to go through more boxes tonight or tomorrow. The truth is that I'm already behind looking for a couple of items for other folks. When I finally do locate them the price will be very appealing and I'll gurantee whatever I sell.

Thanks ONF. I'm in no rush to spend 'more' money on a new format but I'd like to eventually!

... so you aren't a serious buyer? I'm confused.

OK, sorry ... I misunderstood. My apologies.

I've advertised a mint condition 4X5 Graflex several times here and still have it. Split Image and Ground Glass finder, perfect shutter and glass, hand strap and a number of old type film holders. If interested call me at 478-788-2794, Macon, GA.

Mine are definitely not mint and the prices will reflect that. Still looking.
