It should scan up to 5x7, not sure about 8x10 though.

I don't know of a reasonable offer as I haven't seen the 4870 on the used market since I've started looking for a scanner.

I have not seen a 4990 for that matter,be nice to get a 700 or 750 for cheap.

Check the Epson website regularly under their clearence section. They get V700's and sometime 4990's and refurbish them.
A way better value than ebay.

It'll scan 5x7 but not 8x10.

There is little quality difference (there is SOME difference) between the old 4870 and the v700 other than maximum transparency scan size. The attraction of this one is that it's barely been used and it's VERY affordable. Make me any reasonable offer and it's yours. I'm in a financial crunch and need all the cash I can get. No, I just got lucky, right time, right scanner, right price. I will be upgrading later on down the road after I get a new printer but that will be a while.
