Want to Buy WTB: Bulk quantities of 35mm PAPER slide mounts

Hi all,

I’m searching for traditional white paper slide mounts for 35mm film. Remember these? The type with a 2x4" cardboard frame that folds over and seals using built-in heat-sensitive adhesive (aka "heat-seal mounts").

One specific model is the Pic RM10, but they seem to be out of business and I am open to anything similar. There are lots of plastic frames out there, but I need the paper version.

My partner and I are creating something new which incorporates these. Initially we’d like to get approximately 1000 pieces, but long term we’d like to secure a supply for large quantities (multiple thousands or even tens of thousands) over the coming years. I’ve contacted major suppliers (B&H, Freestyle Photo, Imaging Spectrum, Adorama, KEH, Midwest Photo, Samy’s, OmegaBrandess, WEX, etc.) and a few eBay sellers, but I’m coming up short.

I’m crossing my fingers that someone here might:
• Have a box or more hiding in a drawer or archive
• Know a retailer or distributor that might have legacy stock in a warehouse
• Maybe you even know someone at a company who manufactured these, and we can crank the old machine back up!
• Have any other ideas?

Any leads, dusty boxes, or suggestions are welcome. I’m happy to pay fairly, and cover shipping.

Kodak called them Ready-Mounts. IIRC. I remember sealing these with my mother's iron. They are inferior to plastic mounts IMHO FWIW.

Do you have a press?

There are lots of the ready mounts available on eBay. I don't know how the glue holds up over the decades though. I've used 120 film from the seventies that failed at the tape point because the adhesive lost all its power.

Yes, that sounds familiar. We have ways of sealing them. I don't know what the official press looks like; we use a laminating machine (roller heater). Or even an iron (carefully).

B&H and Freestyle sells an AP branded slide mounting apparatus and slide mounts, plastic. I have an older version of one of these that's branded as Kindermann. Plastic mounts works well, cheap. It has illuminated cutter, works pretty nice.

Cardboard mounts are going to be hard to find.

You're right. Most of what we've found on eBay is small lots, perhaps a few dozen or hundred. That's fine for our short term needs but we only want to ramp up this business if we have a secure bulk supply. You're right about tape degrading over time, I think the heat seal is pretty stable. Some of them have printing on them or are slightly discolored which is less than ideal. Do you know of anyone with really large quantities?

I agree about plastic mounts, but for our product we like the retro feel of paper and we wish to provide our customers with the ability to write on the paper frame. Your final comment is discouraging, but still helpful. I can't help but think that there are boxes of these somewhere, but if we are not able to find them our next option is to spend a few thousand dollars with a print & die cut shop to have them tool up and make thousands of pieces for us. Maybe we'll sell a few of those on eBay - hah!

Thanks for this suggestion. I've looked at Etsy in the past and I mostly found small quantities (perhaps a few dozen) which were either printed, dingy, or priced higher than we'd like. But some of these links look promising, I'll contact the sellers and ask about their depth of stock. I appreciate you encouraging me to dig deeper here!

Need to find the yellow paper boxes with the outer sleeve Kodak used to return your slides. 20 or 36 exposure. Mine always came with my self-addressed address label. Genius!
