I've discovered that the plastic window on the top of my Canon 1V has gone missing.

It's the plastic piece on top of the LCD, I don't know how it popped out but it did.

Anyway I should probably have a parts camera anyway.

So yea, if anyone has that plastic window cover. The reason I shoot with the 1V is it's weather sealing, without this wondow, rain/water will get inside the body and fry it while I'm shooting in the harsh weather I shoot in.

Rather than buy a new one at $400-$500 and since mine has been serviced by Canon and parts updated, I would prefer to keep the one I have.

Thanks anyone who might have one! (Canon is out of this part)

Have you looked into wether the same piece from either a 1n or 3 will fit as well?
Best Regards

When I contacted canon parts department they did look and in their system there were no reciprocal parts listed. I did think of that. However I also know the only camera actually supported is the 1V at this point so it may just not be in the system.

If they do work I have a 1n that is just taking up space BUT I live in PNW area.

I mean, I would be willing to give it a shot, if nothing else I could use that when the weather gets really bad if it doesn't fit?

If no one else gets back to me?

I'll get a shipping quote when the weather here gets a bit mose hospitable (snow big time). The EOS 1n cameras were really a bad deal for me I ended up buying 3 of them over the course of a few yrs. 2 of them the shutter capped and were destroyed and the 3rd I got rid of fast while still operable. Only thing that saved my faith in Canon was the EOS 3 I had at the same time as the EOS 1n fiasco still pumping out negatives faithfully the whole time and still is very dependable. I will pm you.

Oh wow that's awful, I just found the 3 focus points limiting. Worth the upgrade to the 1V.

Dances with clouds was kind enough to send me his 1N

Unfortunately that window is not the same. The size is physically, the same but the 1V is an "inny" and the 1N is an "outy".

As in, the reason the 1V popped out is that the plastic seems to lock in by being glued down into the body.

The 1N window cannot physically pop out because it is inserted from inside the body and pressed up toward the outer part of the body.

I was on a little vacation and only had access to my pocket knife, but I'm skiing and wanted to insert this now so snow wouldn't get in, so I kinda "hacked" it out, so, embarrassingly showing these pics. If anyone else could use parts from a 1N I am happy to pass it forward. Other parts aren't damaged just the top plastic and LCD were damaged in my hack.

Suffice to say, still looking for a broken 1V

Thanks! (Pics below to visually explain why the 1N plastic cover doesn't work)

PS if anyone has a 1V they want to post a picture of theirs with the plastic screen that would also be helpful just to see what it looks like.
