Writing on print file preservers

OK, I've tried ball-point pens and extra-fine point Sharpies. I have to go over the print 2 or 3 times to get it to show up. What do you use to write on the white area of PrintFile preservers?

A thicker 'Sharpie' type pen should work or a conventional marker pen.

I use a normal ballpoint pen without much difficulty, after getting it started on a piece of paper.

Staedtler Permanent Lumocolor pens. They work on CD-Rs as well. Never had a problem.

I use the ultra fine point Sharpies, but I am used to fountain pens, so I don't apply much pressure, and they work fantastic.

I write with Pilot EasyTouch ball point pens and they work very well. As do the standard sized Sharpie markers.

I've found you need to keep your finger oil off where you intent to write.
If it's clean and dry, I have no problems with a regular sharpie.

I use a Staedler CD-R pen as well. It stays with my negative files so it doesn't get lost.

I use the fine one also (although, it's none too fine..)

Dries in seconds and is easy to write with - come in various colours too!

An ultra fine point sharpie. It's one of my most important darkroom tools.

Note, if the cap is off for more than several seconds the tip will dry up and the ink won't flow until it has been recapped for a bit. In my experience, this is true of all Sharpie pens.
So, for me, the procedure is figure out what to write, uncap the pen and do it.
Aside from that, I've never had a problem with it not marking the print file plastic, or problems with it catching.
I've also used ball points.
