I'm going back to the wrecking yard from the Ontario L.F. get-together on September the 23rd. Any one up for the adventure? Hopefully those who couldn't make it to the last one can make it to this one? As it gets closer to the date I will email the directions. If any one needs a lift or has extra room in their vehicle, I will try and co-ordinate it.

Well it's less than a week away. Any one else interested? Mike are you still coming? I don't know about a cake, how's a coffee and a dougnut sound?

Cancelled

Due to the lack of interest I’ve decided to cancel my trip to the wrecking yard. Maybe some other time.

Sorry about that. Unfortunately I forgot my b-day now belongs to my 1 year-old niece from here on end...

Sorry Michael, this family reunion came as a surprise to me but there will be people there I haven't seen for years and I need to be there.

Went anyway

Well I got a message from Bob Carnie on Thursday asking if I was still going. Yes I was but the group thing fell through. We had a good time. I got some 30's hood ornaments with my 12in f3.3 Beach Multi focal. Great limited depth of field with interesting out of focus swirls. Bob shot a s**t load of 6x9 before his camera jammed.

I’d still like to do this again with a group if possible. What do people think of the idea of pm’ing me dates we are available and I’ll find the common day?

This is an amazing location and with the fall colours a real treat.
What is fun about this spot is the cars are lined up carefully and with obvious respect . The growth around the older cars is very spooky and as the cars decay the growth increases. You can tell the owner of the property is a car fanatic just by the way nothing is really piled on each other and there seems to be a nice resting ground for each vehicle.
I don't think I saw a vehicle from the 80's onward, lots of 40's and 50,s.

I jammed my camera but Mike fails to report that the 8x10 he was lugging around fell on his finger.*hope its ok*
Just by watching him lug all that gear makes me thankful for the Fuji 6x9.
I would like to go again later this fall , and Laura wants to go too Mike.

Lets try this again

Well after getting a few responses about dates, it looks like Oct. 29th is the best date for this. I will be leaving the east end of Toronto around 8:30 am to arive around 10:00 am. If anyone needs directions or a ride please PM me and I will try to co-ordinate it.

I attended this outing yesterday with Michael and several others.

This is a hidden jewel! I doubt you could find a venue for this type of material better than this anywhere. Classic vehicles respectfully arranged to simplify your access.

If you get a chance to attend one of these... take it.

Thanks for arranging this Michael. As a token of my appreciation, I subscribed to APUG today.

Welcome to APUG Ralph

I went the last time with Mike and am printing two images up today. I am waiting for Aggie to announce the next Emulsion Print Competition so that I can Knock Alex Hawley out of the running with these gems.
very cool location. I bet it is amazing in the dead of winter with lots of Snow hanging off the cars.

Thanks Bob.

Snow would really add an interesting element... especially since everything would be pristine, with the way the cars are arranged.

It's going to be a few weeks before I can so some serious darkroom work... can't wait.

Michael, thanks again for letting the junior MF'er tag along - it was indeed a fantastic location. Probably the best workout my Linhof's had to date. Looking forward to picking up my slides in 2 hours, and to another day (maybe with less wind/precipitation) at this hidden gem of a spot.

Awwwww, I missed it AGAIN. Had to divert my attention to a personal emergency that day - water from a leaky roof in my appartment dripping happily onto about 5K worth of lighting equipment:mad: . The old landlord had just sold the building and didn't care anymore, and the new one I just meet today briefly. Would rather have had spent the day with you folks shooting:sad: .

Had a quick look at Bob's prints from the yard, on Saturday. Nice indeed! I'm sorry I missed the original posting of this trip
It was mentioned that you(s) are considering going back when the snow flies. Can I come? huh? huh? Can I?
Actually I was wondering if anyone wants to go sooner, now that the leaves are gone yet before the snows arrive. A car bone yard and naked trees might make for some interesting shots too. (alright NO puns now)
Either way (snow or no snow) I would like to join in the next trip. I have room for 3 people and their gear in my HHR.
