Probably not Jason, I'm pleased to say, I've had too much first hand experience in in the military of what they they can do to the human body, and I never want to touch one again.

All well and good. I was answering the OP. Let us not derail the intent of the thread.

There is a big difference between being thrown into a situation in which your forced to protect yourself and trying to avoid it. If one is minding one's own business and trouble comes his/her way then it's best to have the power to protect one's self and family. It's different when one is protecting his/her home and on their own turf.

I don't want to hijack this thread , but we don't yet have a society yet in Britain where the ordinary citizen needs to be armed.

I don't want to hijack this thread ..

but you(and I) are/have. Discussion of this sub-subject belongs in another thread, probably the soapbox, and those that wish to belabor the OT part of the subject should do so in that manner, not here. Lets move on, and not degenerate a simple subject into a political debate about something else. Please.

everything I've bought from Captain Morgan has been worth every penny. Problem is right now I'm spending most of my spare pennies on christmas presents :D

Photo related -- my Ries pod and head

Non-photo related -- my winter bicycling gloves (which are going to be nice this morning on my commute to work).

My Tamron AF XR f/3.8-6.3 28mm to 300mm zoom lens with a Nikon mount that my girl friend won for me is worth much more than I spent on it.

A gray card is perhaps the best $4.99 you can ever spend on kit. I also keep about 5 feet of gaffers tape wrapped around a tripod leg so I always have some with me. Comes in handier than you think!

Pocketknife comes with me everywhere, especially when shooting in the woods. Most of the time it just gets used for slicing apples so I don't get my hands all sticky eating them au natural. The Leatherman is a great idea though, I should add one to my kit. Having screwdrivers and a good pair of pliers sounds like due diligence.
