"Worst trade ever"

I didn't have a deal but recently came upon a Craigslist ad for a bulk film loader ($6) and 8 reloadable film cassettes($5) for $11 total. So I emailed the contact person and after a few days I get this reply:

Needless to say I told go with the first person (if there ever was one) and I didn't buy the stuff. If the guy thought I was going to get into a bidding war he was wrong. I'm sure this happens a lot but this was the first time it happened to me.

Why would the first buyer offer to pay more? Its utter BS. Never happen to me but I would walk.

Ouch. This must've happened in the 1970's. My older brother basically did the same thing, traded in a Plymouth Barracuda for a Toyota Corolla back around 1974-75. Of course now he wishes he had back that Plymouth.

A Canon Snappy S that I bought new at a local Drug Store for $50. I then found I liked to take pictures and decided I had to upgrade my equipment. So I traded it for a Pentax ME. The person who owned it felt the Pentax was too complicated for her and liked the little Canon. Since that day I have spent over $15,000 on camera equipment alone. Plus I now own a darkroom and I don't even know how much I spend on film and processing.

I understand completely what you mean!

My worst trade was to swap Graphic Design for Photography class!

In this vein, trading my '63 Chevy II Nova that I had brought back from the dead step by step (found it waaaaay deep in a backyard covered with vines and rotting, and turned it into a beautiful daily driver - even delivered pizzas in it for a while) for a 1960 Buick LeSabre 4-door hardtop with the Ful-Vue roof option. The Buick was perhaps the coolest car in the world, and I haven't seen another just like it anywhere, but it turned out to be a rotten pile of $hit, and I traded my first blood, sweat, and tears-filled project car for it!

Not trades, but two cars I will always regret selling are my '65 Cadillac hearse/ambulance combination coach by Miller-Meteor coachworks, and my '65 Mustang 2+2 (with transplanted genuine 302 Hi-Po from a later Mustang, and three-speed stick swiped from a pickup truck). The Miller-Meteor was a beautiful gem of an automobile (my first car, and the one I learned to drive in), and the Mustang, though modified when I got it, was originally a quite rare 'Stang. I wanted to restore it to its original configuration: six cylinder engine, but with a rare match to a four speed manual transmission. Almost every Mustang six cylinder made came with either an auto trans or a three-speed stick. I've never personally seen another four-speed stick one anywhere else. Finding that four speed (Ford used a trans intended for the English market) may have proved near impossible, but I was determined to do it some day! Damn me to hell for selling it.

Yes, that was the idea, but the rest of the family wasn't interested, so it never really got off the ground.
