If I look at this years World Press Photo Contest (Dead Link Removed), I must say that:
· This year, I am not convinced of the jurys decision. The overall winner is far less compelling than previous WPPH. IMO, It lacks a certain posteresqueness. Please, don't misunderstand me. I dont think this is necessary for a good picture, but I think the WPPH should have a message as clear a good advertising. The general composition doesnt convince me either.
· I cannot accept a picture like 3rd price in category spot news singles. IMO, the photographer was not able to preserve Human Dignity in this case. For me, this should be essential for a picture to receive such an award.
· My personal favorite is the 3rd price in category general news stories. Although it is not very posteresque, too, I find it nevertheless a compelling picture.
