Glad to hear the good news Tim, especially as I can't get to Barbados till February this year. Even bought some 'old emulsion' Kentona to go with it.
cheers

Here's to wishing you a good case of hand cramps from signing! (Similar to wishing one to "Break a leg" with acting.)

Mixed news

I have mixed news.

The good news is that the first batch of softbacks went into the post today and will be on some of your doorsteps tomorrow (depending where you live of course). The next batch is now ready for posting tomorrow morning - and etc etc. I have to print for a show through the days but will pack in the evenings. All the softbacks should be sent by the weekend.

The 'mixed' part is that on unpacking, there are problems with some of the limited editions. As I only have about 90 of these left now unsold, there may be delays for some, until this is resolved. Samples have been air freighted back to Singapore and I won't know exactly what the position is for a week or so. As soon as I know, I will notify everyone who is on the book mailing list (on the website).
Worst scenario? A fews weeks delay for some. Out of my hands but everything is being done to resolve ASAP.

Take your time and do it right Tim, I'm not in a hurry. This book will be as much a keepsake as it will be a reference book for me.

Dang, I was all set to buy one and then I saw postage to California was almost 24 bucks. Is it going to be available at Amazon or other booksellers?

Well, I am pleased to say that the problem appears to have been resolved now and the book producer has accepted that they will provide replacements and that they will be perfect. Unfortunately this inevitably means a delay for most orders, although a few orders can be filled in the meantime from the books that were not affected.
It's not too bad though - 3-4 weeks.
For info, here is the email sent out to the mailing list today
Thanks for your patience everyone. All the 'soft back only' orders have now been posted so many of you will have your books over the weekend.
Tim

Delivery delay for the Limited Edition of ‘The World of Lith Printing’.

The World of Lith Printing arrived on time and all the softback-only orders have now been posted.

A fault has been detected with some of the Limited Edition Hardback version however and this will now be rectified by the book producer in Singapore. Unfortunately, this does mean that there will be a delay of about three weeks in sending out many of the orders that included a Limited Edition book or books. The new product will be air freighted to the United Kingdom and should arrive at the end of this month (October). As soon as this happens I will dispatch all orders as quickly as possible.

I do apologise for this.
I have about 80 of the Limited Edition books left and in view of delay I will hold the introductory price a little longer.

I know - I can't help that. The Limited Edition is heavy and costs a lot to post. I am actually making a loss on the postage.
Also, the mailers I bought in are OK for the softback version but really don't cut the mustard for the Slip cased edition so I have bought new (heavier) mailers. These also increase my postage by about £2 ($3.8) per book to the USA (my cost, not yours). Sadly it is a fact of life that overseas airmail costs are high.
I am quite sure that amazon will sell the softback version (I jolly well hope so!). The Limited Edition will not go out through them though. [Also, there are not too many left  ]

The softback edition certainly is here now as I received mine today. Thanks Tim. I look forward to reading it and doing some more printing as I am anxious to change direction a little with my darkroom work.

Maybe the ordering system is screwed up? I wasn't ordering the limited edition. I was ordering the softcover and shipping was still 24 bucks.

You didn't say which so I guessed it was the HB, as it is heavier.
There is no error though. That is what it costs, postage by Royal Mail (which is less expensive than FedEx, DHL &etc) plus the costs of the packing materials etc. The HBs cost more to send than I charge for P&P.
There was in fact a bug in the system earlier - but it worked in favour of the buyer. Multiple orders were all only charged one book postage costs, so I have several orders to send of between 4 and 8 books each with postage paid for only one book. That has been corrected now.

I'll join in... My books arrived today. Thanks! That was fast! Looks great. I like the technical details of the prints. I allso think I can use your trouble shooting guide in the first book to save time and paper.

Tim,

I guess my order for a hardback copy is held up as you explained. If so, would it be to late to pitch for a combination with your book on toning, rather then "the Lith Printing Course"? I already have that one. The toning book would make my "Rudman line-up" complete!

I received the notice from the post office today for a package so it must be it. Unfortunately it timed along with my little accident and so I will need to find a sucker to get the book for me tomorrow.

No sign of it here, if its reached Greece before Ireland, then I must be one of the unlucky ones waiting for the new batch.:sad::sad:

I can't help with that one Jaap. The Toning book is out of print here in the UK now. They sold out well ahead of the projections but the publishers don't believe that the market would support another print run. Naturally I am sad about this as they sold out really fast, but of course it's their money.
There are still copies available from the USA edition though and available from amazon.com . The only difference is one word in the title!
