Could it be a reference to an eyepiece correction lens - a "diopter"?

This would make sense if by "working distance" romunas meant "effective viewing distance".

Hmm - on the SQ series, the chrome ring the lens seats against measures approximately 85 mm from the film plane. With the slight extension of my body cap pinhole adapter, I get a pinhole to film distance of about 90 mm.

But I suspect this may not be the answer to the intended question -- maybe the question is a reference to "eye relief"? Unfortunately, I'm not aware of the answer to that. There are a half dozen different viewfinders, so it might help to know which one, if that has anything to do with the question.

Maybe a quick sketch could bridge the language gap?

Thank you for answering  You are absolutely right. I asked about distance from chrome ring the lens seats to film plane. Thank you

In the past I have been on the border of Slovakia and Ukraine. From last years I have been in Nikolaev and Odessa.
Your country is going slowly in the right direction but there is a tremendous difference in rich and poor people.
I am even not used of all the poor street dogs and cats who are everywhere in the cities.

Sometimes you're going back 50 years in time and on the other hand some cities are very modern and everything is there. The infra structure is a disaster, especially in Winter or short after the Winter.

Just for inform people how your country is suffering in transport:

Greetings from Holland to Ukraine.

Thanks for greetings  It's really pleasant
I'm not sure in moving in right direction looking to our new president Yanukovich. Infrastructure and roads are really terrible i'm agree with you
But our nature is very beautiful. If you will have possibilities ride to Carpathian mountains or Crimea. Western cities are beautiful and looks quite European: Lviv, Ivano-Frankovsk, Uzhgorod, Chernivci

Ideed, a but more to the Federation of Russia now. But also this will be changed in time. It's not bad to have good relation with the other neighborhood too.

Yes, it is. I can only advise people to visit the Ukraine. It's a real European country with European citizens. It's a pitty a lot of money is floating away in the pockets of people who really do not need it apart from corruption and tricky business.

I can only hope this will improve in the near future because whole Europe would be better on the long termin when Ukraine will be a member of the European Union.

Hope one day we will become much more civilized

About history, art and education I think your country is one of the best in Europe.

The problem is that politicians try to take all power in the country for their own benefit.
A country bigger then France and about 55 million inhabitants could be an important vote within the EU.

Talking about the meaning of the country: The Netherlands means Low Land while Ukraine means Border Land. You have one of the best soil/ground in Europe and could be again an important factor in agriculture.

It's also a pity a lot of companies went out of business after 1990. Also your own photoindustry Svema disappeared years ago.

Fotohuis is sending Europe wide which includes the Ukraine. I am just busy to arrange a Leitz 1C to Kiev.

I whish you all the best,

Robert / Роберт

You are welcome, I am relieved to see my measurement agrees with that Japanese chart! If you are going to build your own attachment, the use of a body cap to mount the lens might be useful. The pinhole adapter I made can be seen here, it would probably be possible to use some plastic pipe fittings to create a crude lens mount. You do have to avoid anything that extends inside the camera body very far, as it could hit the mirror.

Monocle is an lens with only one glass inside it. It makes a soft images. I am not very familiar with English and it's hard to explain. Better see some images made by monocle:

Nice pictures. How do you shoot this lens without a lens shutter?

Jon
That's not my pictures  I don't know all the details of elenaerda's monocle. But my one i can describe: i have all the lenses removed from lensbody but shutter stands on its place. I need to calculate the distance for placing one lens in monocle so i asked about flange focal distance. Not sure that i explain all in good way  My English is too poor
