That's all I got to say! Yay!

Or if your nose is multi-coated.

Is it true you can buy a nose-grease plug-in for Photoshop for a few hundred $$$?

It's easy to blow a perfect good image with nose grease. 'Snot funny!!

Refractive index? Multi-coated? Who nose?

I tried nose grease once but I had a cold... just got runny images.

Now that is an old trick from the way back machine.

I can tell you it will not do any long term harm to your B&W negatives, I have tons of em from 45 years ago with nose grease on em n still reprint em today.

.

Does grease from other parts works just as well? Where does one get the grease to soften the edges of nudes?

taka ...
as i was taught by a master ...
always from behind the ear, never from the nose ...

John,

Did he/she say why? or.... have you been sniffing fixer again?

Great stuff, isn't it? Just make sure you get it from the correct part of the nose. I'll never forget the disucssion with the person who thought nose-grease was an internally-produced product like ear wax.

Honestly, I'm QUITE amazed. I have a roll from our trip to Mexico where sand must have got on the felt (of the 35mm cartridge) and put several pretty deep and long scratch. All of those frames with scratches printed *just* fine.

I am getting a bottle of Edwal's No-Scratch just in case I run out of my nose oil. My understanding is that these oil needs to be cleaned off the film each and every time. There isn't anything that will stay on the film permanently to fill those gouges, is there?

You can pick your friends,
You can pick your nose,
But you can't pick your friend's nose.

... if you have to ask...

Oh... I didn't need to ask. I just wanted someone to admit it. Gee whiz... I miss my younger daze.

no she didn't tell me why but she was pretty freaked out
when i needed to descratch a sheet of film i dropped, and
i was going to get it from the nose, almost as if
the quality was better from behind the ear, or that nose grease
had the tendency to do something bad to the film, or maybe it went rancid
if the film wasn't stored "correctly" .. it was as if it was something only
real photographers knew, you know, the same photographers who
knew how to retouch so you couldn't see retouching marks, or shoot perfect slides without a meter
just by judging the light and experience ...

i never questioned it, and since march 1989 i haven't used anything but stuff from behind my ear ...

of course, your mileage may vary ..

Maybe if you are female and use cosmetic, nose wouldn't be a place to harvest.....
It worked just fine for me though. I'm still amazed how well....

maybe ...
but she never put make-up on her whole life

in any case i am glad you found another source of
photographic fun

I'll bet that John is already working on a developer made from nose oil...

Richard

Either that or a device to extract nose from nose oil....

Had forgotten about nose grease but remember from college in the 80s it worked well. But was it emulsion or the back of the neg?

Sounds like it serves the same purpose scanning fluid does. Not that I know about such things...
