I have an old wood printing frame that has a dial and counter on the back. It is a half moon shape dial with an arm that can be moved to points around the edge - it is numbered from 1 to 9. Could someone explain what you would use the numbers on the dial for?

We used those when making reprints for customers. If they ordered more than one,we kept track of the number using that counter.I still have a 5x7 from my first job in a darkroom.
