KWmullet, I'm not trolling. Would you take the time to make a comment if the subject were workshops for white people only? As for gender based bathrooms and locker rooms, etc.

There's a difference between barring people from opportunities to improve themselves and the desire for privacy and safety when they are removing their clothes. Although there is a double standard there as well as women journalists sued and won the right to be able to do interviews in male sports teams locker rooms even though the atletes were undressed and felt it invaded their privacy. Anyway so as not to perpetuate a long argument, I've said my piece and am out of this one.

Having attended workshops, tutorials and other events with mixed gender participation I can understand why some women would prefer a woman's only workshop. I have watched/listened to men talk over women, tell them not to ask such silly questions and in some cases intimidate the women by glaring at them.

Even in cases where leaders put these boorish men in their place you could tell that the women where still intimidated. In a perfect world every body would get equal time and respect. Unfortunately this is not a perfect world.

As an exercise, next time you are in a situation like this, (a meeting, workshop, even a work conversation between peers) take note of what happens around you. The results can be astounding.

If there are women who would like to have an all-women's workshop and they want to use APUG to organize it, that seems like a good thing. Please don't interfere by poisoning the discussion and leading the thread off topic. If you want to have the gender debate, take it to the Soapbox.

That wasn't directed specifically at you, David. There's enough distraction going on at various points in the previous six pages.

it seemed to me, the woman only started out as a tongue in check comment as he had just finished a 1 on 1 workshop with someone who happened to be a woman.i don't know why i should be surprised that it has gotten twisted about.

I think the guys in New England were worried that we wouldn't get to meet Lee...but that thought is foolish. A party afterwards would most likely occur. Us guys would just hang out at the local pub while the workshop was going on and "drop in" later.

Quote: Men only workshop in Arches National Park.Anyone interested?
Participation in the belching and farting contest would optional.Should we offer a chili without beans? Personally, I would think not.

Or we could just watch Blazing Saddles and laugh ourselves to death.

sionnac said, "Lee - hello - would the workshop be LF?"

Hello Sionnac,

more than likely this will be a darkroom workshop but could include some LF if enough were interested.

Well Lee, now you know how to create interest in workshops, the good old way of advertising...controversy. Not that you created it, but it did get a lot of views. Next time offer to do the workshop nude! Oops, did I mean a Nude workshop? A workshop with Nudes?

Gay,

I dont think me doing the workshop nude would be benifital for the getting anyone to sign up. In fact, I did try nude photography once but they neighbors called the cops and I got really cold.

Well, I have certainly been having a great time reading this thread! As for a women's workshop... great idea! Where is it tentatively supposed to be? This might be something I'd be interested in... I love the NE.

My sex change operations are nearly done. Please keep us posted, as I would like to attend. tim

P.S. Wouldn't mind posing in the nude, would like feedback on my newly acquired store-bought-hooters in the critique gallery.
