I would echo quite a few that have already been mentioned.
My additions, In no particular order

Sarah Moon.
Beth Moon
Lynn Davis
Laura McPhee
Marilyn Bridges
Shana and Robert Parke-Harrison (their work is a pretty symbiotic collaboration, I'm not sure this counts in the scheme of the thread)

I've had the privilege of working with Cig Harvey, Joyce Tenneson and Cheryl Jacobs.

Cheers,
Bill

What happened to Cheryl? I haven't posted here in many years, but used to be a huge fan of hers. Her website is gone too.

I don't think gender has anything to do with a person's photographic ability. In my seventy years of photography experience females are some of the best, and most creative of photographers I have ever known.

Gender may affect ones approach, but the technical nature of photograph is separate from gender. A much larger factor is ones personal mind in making compositions.

FWIW, my understanding of the original purpose of this thread was to bring photographers to the attention of many who would not necessarily have encountered them before.
I'd suggest that one of the main roles that gender may have played in the past is that many woman photographers may not have as much attention paid to their work as their male contemporaries. As well, in the past, many may not have had the same opportunities to share their work.

Magnanimous of you to think that's in the past...

How about we agree that things were even worse in the past.
And of course, in many cases, photographers often come to attention because of a body of work, which generally requires a fair bit of time.

Letiizia Battaglia was mentioned a few post back. The Photographers' Gallery in London has just had an exhibition of her and Deborah Turbeville, whose work I really liked. They have a great bookshop too.
