hi all can a Wollensak Raptar 15 inch F5.6 Lens with Alphax Shutter in a lens board that is for a Speed Graphic or a Crown Graphic be put in another lens boad and used with a wisner 4x5. and what size board would you need ?
thanks for any help
mitch

Few 5x4's have enough bellows extension for a 15" lens. You can fit the lens/shutter on any board you like, the Graphic boards are smaller than a Wisner so no problems.

The 15" Wollensak tele-raptar is a big, beefy lens. I think it will be a bit heavy for a wisner.

A better choice would be a 14" f9 APO Ronar or similar lens.

to answer your question, yes you just need to get a wisner lensboard. you need a hole cut for an alphax 4 or 5 shutter, whatever size the shutter is.

re 15" tele Raptor

I have had one of these and I think it comes in a alphax #3 shutter and requires about 10-12" of bellows draw. It makes a nice portrait lens, I have not ever had a wisner but it worked great on a crown graphic. As pointed out by others you will have to procure a wisner board and drill it the match the shutter. Regards George

i also have one, in a barrel.
i use it on my speed graphic,
and the guy who sold it to me, used it
often on his series d slr. it is a big heavy lens
but works fine on a speed graphic, so i am guessing
as long as your wisner lensboard isn't cardboard
(like some of my speed graphic lensboards ) you
will be ok

great lens!

I use one on a Shen Hao, and it works great, I can focus down to about 8 or 9 feet without any funky extension tricks. As others have said, it is a heavy lens though so if you are looking for a feather weight this isn't it. Nice and sharp though. Mine is mounted in an Alphax #4, it came in a flange which I had S.K. Grimes mount to a Technika board (only time I have considered using them, in this case the price seemed reasonable).
