My son just picked up a Wollensak Portrait Lens Series A 6 1/2 X 8 1/2 on Ebay for a really good price and said enjoy Dad. Now that brought a lump to my throat.

So while we are now anxiously waiting for this prize to arrive, has anyone used on of these lenses. Thinking I will stick in in front of my 5x7 Tachi.

Here is the link to the lens.

Hi Mike,

If I recall correctly, the Wolly A-Series was renamed Vesta Portrait lens. Your lens is a Petzval type (four elements, two groups), and should still produce a very nice image. Nice and sharp in the center, with the edges descending into a beautiful swirly bokeh. The lens should work just fine on a 5x7, focus should be about 12". Nice gift!
