Here's some interesting trivia: how the Raptar, Colortar and Micronar got their names...

March,1946 "The Camera" magazine ad.

Colortar? Micronar? Are you sure these are Wolly trade names?

Micronar is an MPP trade name used on lenses fitted to the Microflex. Colortar seems to be a Pathe trade name, was used on lenses fitted to the Pathescope Prince, a 9,5 mm cine camera.

The magazine is from 1946 and that is a scan of the ad in the magazine. What else can I say?

Maybe Wollensak never used the 2nd and 3rd place winner names and Microflex and Pathe appropriated them for their designs. Who knows?

thank goodness they gave up on all the V's, aww shucks there is that pesky veritar...

Interestingly these were to be paid in war bonds. The $500 bond cost Wollensak $350 and would have been cashed in 1954, although the terms were ultimately extended to 40 years, maturing in 1984, earning about 3.5%, which was a lower rate than the usual.

Unused losers, maybe, but Wollensak locked up the trademark just in case.
