Clean and clear wide angle lens for 4 x 5 inch cameras. 3 1/2 inch focal length, which is equivalent to 90 mm. No cleaning marks. Shutter is a Kodak Flash Supermatic, which IMHO is a shutter that only a mother could love. T and B work correctly. Other times are not accurate. The shutter, like most Flash Supermatics I have come across, has a rather dry, graunchy feel to its operation. Maybe a simple CLA will address that. Located in central Massachusetts in the northeastern United States. Enjoy for $50.

I'll chime in as I have one of these lenses. From what I recall, the f12.5 ext WA lenses can open up wider than 12.5 if you remove some type of blocking mechanism, but I doubt it's as wide as f4.5. Maybe 6.8? Probably at the expense of coverage and sharpness at the wider apertures. Mine covers 5x7 with limited movements. I don't think you can go wrong with this lens for 50 bucks if you're looking for this focal length.

That's probably not the original shutter. A Wollensak lens would have been supplied with one of their own shutters- a Rapax or (OEM) Graphex. This shutter probably held a 101/4.5 Ektar when new. Shouldn't make any difference at this price, especially as a purchaser should budget for a shutter service.

hi markS
the original shutter mine was in was a weird alphax job. top shutter speed was like 100thS, said f12 but it opened wider  and there was no flash sync. this shutter is great, stopped down legend has it that the lens covers a 5x7 sheet... of course the internet is full of legends. ...YMMV

All rightie mates, this little fellow is heading for Australia. Thank you for all the commentary and the interest.

The Series III f9.5 EWA, is almost identical to the Series IIIA f12.5 EWA I have both in 159mm FL, focussing aperture is around f6.5.

In terms of the aperture scale if the shutter was for a 101mm Ektae set at f16 the actual aperture is f14.3 around a 1/3 of a stop faster.
