That's what I do when it gets uneasy. I drop the film in the tank, close it, go away for a few minutes and then start over.
I remember once I couldn't get a tri-x in the spool. So, I dropped the film in the tank, closed the tank and went to the kitchen to make some coffee. Going back to the bathroom (that doubles also as my darkroom ), to my surprise saw the film on the left side of the tank. Inside the tank was the backing paper. I guess drinking and developing film do not pair.
