Yes. Instax film has been the top selling film for quite a while.

At first I liked the idea of an Instax back for existing cameras. But the more I think about it the less I like it. It's just too darned small, even the "wide" version, to be of much use for proofing 4x5. Might be ok for medium format proofing (I admit to using the Polaroid back on my M645 some and that's pretty darned small and wastes a lot of film.)

I'd rather see New 55 come down in price to where THAT could be the saving grace of instant for more serious photographers.

That might work.

The thing so appealing about the peel apart is that backs for 4x5 (and 8x10 for that matte rbut you can get that now if you are willing to pay enough, from Impossible) and most pro grade medium format cameras that take interchangeable backs were already made and sold in sufficiently large quantities that they are easy to come by and affordable. A 4x5 back for Instax would be great and would work on any 4x5 camera (preferably under a spring back like the Polaroid so a Graflok back wouldn't be needed) but probably not for the many medium format cameras. But even 4x5 (or quarter plate to shoot on 4x5 which is "close enough" as many of us found with the Fuji films) would be really nice.

I'm not sure what problem you are addressing. That Groupon is for Instax, which is a very successful instant product. Instax is not going away any time soon.

Fujifilm has discontinued its line of peel-apart instant films. It's the loss of these films that has many people (including myself) upset because of their unique qualities, and the ability to use them in some classic Polaroid cameras. No Groupon (or petition, or anything else) is ever going to bring these films back.

We all know that. But there has been discussion of making an Instax back for 4x5 cameras, at least, maybe others. Apparently they have been done as one-offs and at least one person or small company is working on one as a potential commercial product. So if we can't shoot peel apart maybe we will be able to shoot Instax in our "regular" cameras before long.

I was just saying I think the stuff is too darned small to be very useful on a 4x5 camera, and the number of medium format cameras on the market might limit the practicality of making backs for those. Or maybe not - limit it to 6x7 and 6x6 (maybe the Fuji 6x8s) cameras with interchangeable backs and what does that leave? RB/RZ 67, Hasseleblad, Bronica SQ and what's the Bronica 6x7? I think those would cover the majority of medium format uses. It would actually be fine too on my 645 - I use the peel apart some now for proofing and the image, though it wastes a lot of the quarter plate sized FP-100c, is actually about the same size as Instax anyway. But that opens up more cameras needing custom backs, at minimum the Mamiya 645 Pro and TL and the Bronica ETR series.
