Have you stepped outside in the past year? Neither of those has worked for either side. I hear from one side 'Wear two masks!' and the other 'Who needs a vaccine anyways?'

Facts are meaningless. Everything is emotion these days. Film is 'chemicals'. Chemicals 'kill the planet'.

Film bad.

The film industry removed cadmium from film when it was deemed detrimental to rivers. Radium was removed from lenses when it was realized that it was not safe. No problems with film that cannot be overcome.
 
We live in a crazy world full of insane people. Anything can be banned for any reason!
 
Now that movies are distributed and projected digitally and photojournalists shoot digital, film is a very minor player in the world. Nobody is going to ban it. It might get more expensive to produce, given the water used. But not banned. Get out of the bubble.
 
It's overcast where I am right now, so maybe that's why I can't see the sky falling.
 
Is anyone aware of the US government use of film? They and Hollywood both funded continuity of our film hobby/profession. They may still be using film for various purposes.

It's still used in reconnaissance.

If you do a deep google dive you can find video of the film itself and how it's displayed.

USA liked to stockpile analog tech like film and tubes. Not sure if they still do though.
 
This thread just shows that some people have way too much time on their hands. Go shoot film.

When it all devolves into “Planet of the Apes” We will be mixing our own emulsions in secret, coating our own plates, and exposing them on our homemade cameras. Oh, wait a second...
 
On the plus side, film is used by many museums and archivers to save photo results for long storage with no worry about obsolete data storage systems. Some of the digital files I backed up on DVD's have already disappeared from the disks as they have become unreadable. EVen recovery programs haven;t helped. My old Ektachromes from 40 years ago are still perfect. And my wife's parents Kodachromes are even older.

maybe. but coffee rust will probably kill off all the arabica beans first leaving only caffenol beans for us to consume
