Will analog flash hurt digital camera?

Nikon camera bodies can handle upto 250v(says so in their manuals). Canon ones can handle till 6v.

Check the link of the list I've posted. Someone measured 10.75-12V with the Sunpack 422D - this will fry your camera.

Sure. But if you don't want to get one, till 250v Nikon's circuitry won't get fried. I have tried the vivitar 285 on my d90 and worked okay.

More than electronics, problem is ergonomics. The 285 is a clumsy thing to mount on the smaller /lighter DSLRs without battery packs. (or even with).

Which camera? The OP's?

The Nikon D90 handles 250v flashes via hot-shoe. You should go check the Nikon site or manuals!
