Will a Negatrans hold 120 film flat in a 23c?

My friend printed some of my Mamiya TLR B & W negs with such a unit and they're not that sharp.

My negtrans 120 has an AN glass on the top which holds the neg flat - no problem with softness. Might be an idea to check with your friend about that. Also check all the usual suspects such as neg stage alignment, lens cleanliness and trying to print in a standard neg holder (hopefully one with AN glass). Best of luck, Sam

I don't have a 120 negatrans (though I lust for one). From my research it appears that the AN glass that samcomet refers to is removable. So it's possible the one used by the OP's friend might be missing that glass.

Also, if using some of the European films that curl so bad, printing can be a challenge.

.......

That happened to me. Bought off ebay and the vendor didn't know anything about what she was selling. She reluctantly refunded after I paid postage for return half way round the planet (Australia to USA).

I now have a complete one which works very well. Maybe by the very highest standards it's not as good as full glass top and bottom, but I haven't noticed. My negs are pretty flat.

I hadn't heard about AN glass being available for the Negatrans.
