Nikkor? Nikon's name was originally Nikon Kogaku K.K. I believe that this means Japan Optical Inc. Anyway, that's what Nikkor is derived from.

Nippon Kogaku (日本光学). The characters can also be read as Nihon Kogaku; the meaning is the same.

Wollensak made a lens they called Raptar....

The Raptar name came about from a 'naming contest', post WWII...The lenses were previously named Velostigmat.

Wollensak really missed the boat...they should have made some transitional lenses called "VelosiRaptars"..🤓🙃

Well K-Mart named after the founder Sebastien Spering Kresge the founder.

So, it could have been S-Mart. Or Smart.
