The kids love their Instax cameras. They pull them out whenever they want to take pictures...it's their goto cameras.

Maybe here will be more interest as the end of FP100 looms. I just bought a bunch of FP100 but maybe it is the last I can get.

I'm going to start exposing instax mini film as I would conventional sheet film in 6x9 sheet film film holders.

In terms of instax-wide, apparently the cartridges fit in Polaroid film backs (after removing the rollers) to allow the top sheet to be exposed. If one has a number of Polaroid film backs with dark slides one can have a number of back that can take a single shot each.

I wonder if I could put a sheet at a time in my Fuji 6x9 rangefinders? What's the ASA/ISO of instax?

I think it will fall through the film rails. I'd use some two sided sticky tape and tape it to the pressure plate. I was planning on loading up some 4x5in film holders with instax Wide that way. That is stick the film to the back of the film holder to hold it in place. Then using the loaded 4x5 film holders in my 4x5 camera.

I'm going to pick up an instax camera from the local store tomorrow with some film and start experimenting using it in my 6x9cm film holders in the horseman, and 4x5 film holders and sticking it to the pressure plate in a Rolleiflex TLR.

(Here in Germany Instax cameras were kind of hushed up by the manufacturer for about 20years...)

I just bought an Instax Mini 80 neo camera (in Brown) in a camera shop in Munich, on my way from work to the train. Will be a Christmas present for my niece.

I guess there is just not that much to talk about this system. You simply use it and it spits out pictures.

Seems odd that the Instax line of cameras from Fujifilm rarely get mentioned here. They must sell more instant film than anyone these days. And from what I hear, the image quality from their film is worlds better than Polaroid.

Why is that?

Because the cameras aren't very good.

I like to play with Instax mini. I have the Fuji Share SP-1 and take it to family events. Everyone downloads the app to their phone and has fun printing photos to the little Instax printer. I also have the cheap Instax Mini 9.

I'm currently shooting a few packs of the Monochrome Instax mini film. A friend of mine told me that his had a blueish tint to it, and it wasn't really black and white. I noticed that my shots were purple at the edges. Do I care? Not really, it's all fun. It's a quick way to share some photos with people. And yeah, grandma loves to collect the shots of her grandchildren for her Instax album.

I share this view. But it depends on intended use. The Wide camera models for instance were designed for snapshooting at close distance. At that they are good.

I wound up getting the Instax mini 70 to process my Instax film. Of course, I want to try the little camera also. It turns out that if you are at the correct focal point for the lens (about 1.5 m) and the camera gets the exposure right, the results are pretty darn good.

I'm looking at a picture taken with the Fuji Mini 70 with the flash at 1.5 meters and it is very sharp and perfectly exposed. Nothing LOMO about it. The main advantages of using the Horseman are interchangeable lenses, ability to get the exposure correct more times in difficult light and ability to take pictures at any distance.

Here is a comparison of two pictures digitized at the same scale. One is an Instax frame from the Mini 70 and the other is from my Rolleiflex Polaroid back with chipped glass on FP100c. The size of which is the same as a 35mm contact print.
