if someone asked me that ( and sometimes they do ). I usually answer, " oh yea, says you ... "
I also like "it takes one to know one."

Since 6x6 was often cropped for editorial use, Mamiya RZ/RB made more sense. Does anyone know the sales numbers of either camera?

I've always wondered why it's people who live on islands who drive on the wrong side. Ireland, Australia, Great Britain, US Virgin Islands, even when I served in Japan and owned my first car.
Actually its all us others who are driving on the wrong side.:whistling:
We used to drive on the left - we followed the English influence you know - until all the problems with those visiting Americans and Eastern Canadians caused us to switch.
I expect that the left side driving holdouts originally were influenced by England, and the fact that they still do it that way comes from the fact that they are Islands.
Here is a story about when Vancouver switched: https://scoutmagazine.ca/2018/01/16...t-city-on-the-continent-to-drive-on-the-left/
It of course depends on what you are used to. I spent some of my university time in Victoria BC in the early 1980s. The city had recently converted a couple of the major intersections from roundabouts (Victoria has strong English roots) to what we see as standard - four way intersections controlled by traffic lights. One of the motivating factors was the significant numbers of US tourists in RVs who ended up getting stuck in the roundabouts, going round and round and round ....

No - just likely to have bitten off more than they can choose when they drove the RV off of the lot - particularly if it was a rented RV.

Isn't there an apocryphal tale that the Brits drive on the left-hand side so they can keep their sword arm free while driving a carriage?

I suppose Americans drive on the right so they can brace the gun on the windowsill.

More likely to cradle the rifle barrel on the mirror arm.

I traveled a bit in the UK and Australia. Only one time in Australia I decided to rent a car. I drove around Adelaide and surrounding areas. The transition was pretty natural by symmetry alone. A couple times at night where no other cars were around (i.e., no visual clues), I found my self momentarily on the wrong side, but it made no difference at that point, and I caught it quickly. In town, traffic, left/right turns, etc. is what I feared, but was no problem.

Most would say that England drives on the wrong side of the road.

Barbados should be on this map and I cannot see it, even in green.

And they all become obsolete very quickly.

Some folks would like to think that but in all reality, it is simply not the case. I have a friend who is still using a 2012 Nikon D700 I sold him years ago. The reason enthusiasts upgrade is that they are addicted to the aspect of the latest tech. The reason pros do is that we just use the heck out of the stuff and have always upgraded life-blood cameras as a matter of keeping them reliable and have that cutting edge tech to remain competitive.

Here's something to smile for you, gentlemen . No, it's not Sirius acting in this video ...

Ahhh, Hasselblad overrated threads, LOL!
I could keep this simple and just say there are still a number of them on the moon, (mic drop) but why let the OP off easy, right?
I have a ton of top notch camera gear by anyone’s measure, have used a fair number of different medium format cameras and the ones I will use for anything and everything I can until my dying days are Hasselblads. The quality is as good as it gets but the system…damn, it just goes on forever, mine feels like an army.
I make my best images with this gear and not because it is the best gear but it is the best for what I need. And now that they have put out a new wonderful digital back and even a new camera that works with it with literally every lens Hasselblad has ever made and even some they have not, the system just blows my mind.

I had a commercial job mid morning last week. So I took some film backs, two 501CM’s, 4 lenses, the CFVII 50C and the 907X with a tiny 45P lens on it. In the morning I made some film based images in the fresh snowfall, mid AM hit the commercial job with the CFVII 50C and then after took the CFV back put it on the 907X and had a walk around rig as I met a friend for lunch. I hope Hasselblad sticks around, they are doing great things lately and still support the V system.

On location Aspens, Spring, TechPan
Blad.1.JPG

On location 13,000 foot peak, Summer, Tmax 400
Blad.2.JPG

CFVII 50C on 501CM, 60mm CFI. With the camera set on B and shutter open, I am able to use live view for critical focus and a shutter speed range on the back of 1/10,000th of a second to 68 minutes in 1/3rd stop increments, just incredible!
Blad.3.JPG

CFVII 50C on 907X w/ 45P lens, check out the size next to the Leica!
Blad.4.JPG

Film backs, I now have a dozen A12's, can't have too many...

It helps to read the thread post in its entirety, not just the title.

Unless it is a tabloid-like attention getting headline....which your choice for a thread title most certainly is.
Again, read my thread. You are suggesting I said Hasselblad is overrated, or that I even implied that, which I have never done. When overrated is followed with none other but ... underrated, it ought to be a fairly simple matter.

And yes, titles make the difference in drawing attention. Problem is when people make conclusions based merely on the headlines.

I read it, I don't care for trolling headlines, I expect them to accurately reflect the intent of the content. Better luck next time?

I agree with Ai, the thread title was troll bait, which I don't like.

But that is neither here nor there, the resulting derailing thread was still entertaining.

I suppose musicians must also tire of the Steinway, Stradivarius, or Fender sound at some point.

It's a great point. But if you know any musicians who are tired of their Steinway, let them know I have a Hasselblad I would gladly trade for it! They can have the whole kit.

Most musicians I have known were broke, and had to work their way up to their dream instrument and would not ever get rid of it. I wonder if the 'Blad is the same for some photo enthusiasts.

Where do I start?
  1. Bulky
  2. Not for hand held photography
  3. The lens is STILL not rectilinear.
  4. "And I know I'm fakin' it
    I'm not really makin' it"*
*
Fakin’ It
Simon & Garfunkel
[Verse 1]
When she goes, she's gone
If she stays, she stays here
The girl does what she wants to do
She knows what she wants to do

And I know I'm fakin' it
I'm not really makin' it

[Verse 2]
I'm such a dubious soul
And a walk in the garden
Wears me down
Tangled in the fallen vines
Picking up the punch lines
I've just been fakin' it
Not really makin' it

[Verse 3]
Is there any danger?
No, no, not really
Just lean on me
Taking time to treat
Your friendly neighbors honestly
I've just been fakin' it, fakin' it
Not really makin' it

This feeling of fakin' it--
I still haven't shaken it

[Verse 4]
Prior to this lifetime
I surely was a tailor, look at me...

("Good morning, Mr. Leitch
Have you had a busy day?")

I own the tailor's face and hands
I am the tailor's face and hands
I know I'm fakin' it, fakin' it
I'm not really makin' it

This feeling of fakin' it--
I still haven't shaken it, shaken it
I know I'm fakin' it
I'm not really makin' it
