My baby arrived. Very nicely made, and very inexpensive all considered! Post a picture of yours!

Well, I know I should have one. Don't they need paying for somehow? Or can I get my Doctor to prescribe one?

Badger Graphics is virtually giving them away! $1295 including lens, double darks, shutter cord. The quality of construction really blew me away.. I assumed because it was inexpensive it would be cheap!

Your right Daniel, at that price they are remarkable value. Did you get stung for import duty ?
Ian

In this case I did, since they insured it and the value was stuck on the outside of the box!!! Oh well.. it was only A$280. So I had the whole thing landed for like A$2500, with a 210mm Sironar-S.. compared to prices here.. I got the lens for a good price with the camera for free!

I've had one of those since 1985. I now use it as a variable focal length pinhole camera, since I now use an Arca-Swiss for 4x5 work.

Here's the Apo II Pinhole/Zone Plate Shutter I bought, if you are interested (scroll down to find it on this page): http://www.pinholeresource.com/agora/agora.cgi?xm=on&product=Cameras

Good luck with your camera.

I hope you'll add an 8x10 camera soon.

All right, here's two of mine. Not the same design - at all!

Speed graphic, with iris lens board and a Perken Rayment Son "Optimus Portable 5x4" wide-angle lens.

The Carbon Infinity, with a 150mm Voigtländer Apo-Lanthar for the occasion.

Soeren, given the current US exchange rate.. surely it would only translate to about 8 Euro's or something

Daniel.

BTW : On the screen.. how do I know what 4x5 covers? Is it one square in?

Daniel, congratulations looks terrific, still scratch free.

I have seriously looked at this camera but in the base version without a lens, to keep the whole thing under $1,000 AUD therefore keeping it tax free.

It appears that the freight must have been considerable to incur $280 of duty and tax. Or did this costing include an importing firm to get through customs?

When you visit Torquay will you be bringing your camera? Wouldn't mind a gander, especially if you are dropping in to check out a very recently purchased 8x10" in Geelong!

No sorry The US $ is a bit more worth than that and the Danish costum also take their toll, 25% so all in all its not that cheap

Just don't let Basil carry your gear up to your room. Let Manuel handle it.

Freight was only US$89, I upgraded to the Rodenstock 210mm Sironar-S lens. Badger are really good in that if you buy their starter kit and want to upgrade the lens, you just take the retail price of the 150-N lens off any other lens.

Lets catch up when I come to Torquay. Maybe you can show me a good spot for a sunset photo?

I've got the same camera, but rebranded "calumet".. It is a GREAT little camera, lightweight and very stable. I shot with it for 2 years until I got my 8x10, and haven't done anything with it since then. Someday I'll get my hands on an enlarger so I can put it to good use again!

Pardon me (I am one of the "unwashed" smaller format users),

I see that the lens is a Rodenstock. I do not see any ID of the manufacturer or model for the camera. Is it a Shen-Hou? Is it the kit that Badger sells for $1345?

I would like to know if their 5x7 is worth the price as I do have a lead on a 5x7 enlarger.

Thanks,
Dan

I could post my 20 something year old Zone VI branded Wista DX, but the wood's all scratched and the brass is all pitted.
Still works fine. Just as long as I remember to retighten all the screws every few months or so.

No babies around my house anymore, but here are Mutt and Jeff.

Zone VI 8x10 wearing a Fuji W 5.6/300
Gowland PocketView 4x5 sporting a Caltar II-N 5.6/150

PS...Those Tachs are pretty cameras. We have one we check out to students. I have had to replace a couple broken toggles (front swing) and there is a good crack in the wood (no light leak) right above the knob for back tilt. Students certainly test equipmment (and my patience!)
