Why do my PolaroidNow+ Pictures Look faint?

I just got the camera and tried some pictures on sunlight with stock defaults. The result was disappointing.

It's hard to tell what went wrong here. The problem may be due to something like lens flare, or there may be a chemical origin to it. What kind of film did you use here?

No, Ive tried 4 shots all look faint.

You will need a second pack of film to see if that's the problem - a second pack bought from a different place than the first pack. It's seems unlikely it's the camera.

So, this is a great question I did not bring the film myself I think the person who brought it might have committed this mistake. Also looking for the itype film on amazon the sample images also look a bit faint so I'm confused.

Was the film pack exposed to either heat or freezing?

Could be an issue with the chemicals pod. If it gets too dry inside, the chemicals don't' spread though all the surface. Or perhaps there is not enough quantity.

In such cases I'd expect a more irregular pattern across the image. The pattern shown in both photos is perfectly consistent between the two, and it's also a near-perfect gradient.

One potential camera fault that could cause this is a light leak at the print ejection port. This would expose the pod end of the print (the wider border) more than the other end and result in the gradient we're seeing. A handling problem that let light into the film pack before/during loading would only affect the first print (if any; that's what the dark slide is for). A CT scanner would normally fog the entire frame on each frame in the pack. And normally chemical pod issues cause trouble at the end away from the pod instead of near it.

I agree, contacting Polaroid is the first step; it might possibly be a defective film pack (uneven coating).

The new Polaroid films seem as fickle as the old/original Polaroid films with equally stringent constraints. Was the film stored per temperature requirements, and used per temperature requirements, and within the storage time recommendations?
