I just looked; the camera was not a tricolor, but was designed to make sequential exposures through each of the tricolor filters. Here's a fun one, where the sequential color shows in the flowing water http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/empire/images/p87-5006.jpg
I am only a recent convert to black and white, but the more of it I shoot the more I love it...
I think that a lot of shots only owrk in monochrome, the colours overwhelm it otherwise.
Also by reducing a photograph to tones you can get the essenceo of some scenes that colour would detract from.
Of course, autumn leaves work best on colour transparency!
