I have three Hasselblad, all gifts, otherwise I'd have none at this time.

The 500cm and Flexbody, both received from a friend and patron in great condition and other kit.

Last week to Thursday to Monday, I and my Rozeann took a photo hunting road trip to VA and Tennessee, where I found a couple shots for the 500cm, but at least one would have been better taken with the Flexbody and it's rise and fall capacity.

Too bad I left that camera bag home at the assembling location.

i almost hope the small architectural print requires me to go back sometime in the near future.

The third Hasselblad, a 500C was gifted in response to my asking for Hasselblad kit to learn on.

Its been a basket case for my St of its time with me, but now that I can actually see, with readers and none of the darkness and distorting pre-Cataract vision I've had years, but had no idea of how bad it really was.

I'm still asking for Hasselblad kit to work on, or take parts from for repairs, such as screws, etc and I hope I can put this beautiful, Five Hundred C, design back into working condition before New Years and continue to allow me to learn this otherwise out of reach kit and return them to personal use, in my camera kit.

If I have the means to buy new condition Hasselblad "V" kit, with a really professional CLA, I will, but that's a Powerball ticket to lust for in the future.

I'm very happy with what I've got, but a 500EL body, a second backup, either a 500C or CM and a SWC Type wide angle are desirable as is a "V" Series 50mm ∅60 lens with a protective B&W filter.

Cheers,
Eli

Just one, a 500 C/M. So far my only issue with the Hasselblad kit is that one of my two magazines needs light seals. My backup for medium format is a Rolleiflex 3.5 MX-EVS.

You can easily replace that seal with a $15 kit from online and a quality screwdriver.

There is plenty of online videos to walk you to a successful conclusion.

"Enough" for what? In 2024, shooting film with my 500c is an occasional indulgence for me.

That means one is enough for you.

I am still undecided - in the end, the classic leaf shutter models in chrome are "it" for me.

I've asked myself Am I now a photographer or a collector of this Hasselblad equipment? After years of using these cameras one tends to have a pretty good size collection. They just tend to show up! A photographer should limit the number of these cameras and lenses they're using when they find their neck remains sore.

I have owned and used a 501 C/M body for many years. I just bought a very nice 500 C/M for one reason only - in case of primary body failure and an inability to get it serviced, I didn't want a bunch of orphan Hassy lenses sitting here.

If you are mechanically inclined an patient/careful, it's pretty easy to change the seals yourself.

I just have one 500c body and an 80mm CF lens so far.

A second body seems inevitable in time but not in any way an urgent need.

Building my Sinar system has consumed the camera budget this year.

I used the Hasselblad for an important series of family portraits so it has earned it's place in my affections.

I have 4, including the 555ELD that I just bought a week ago. The others are 503CX, 2000FCW, and 501CM. The 501 is chrome, the rest black.

I got the EL because it was a great deal which included an 80 CFE, a prism, and the Acute-Matte D split image screen. The price would have been justified with only the lens and the screen. Plus I had read great things about the build on these, and it was from 2001 so much newer than my other V cameras, and although I would never want to have to only use an EL, it does function really well, and I found myself really liking not having to cock it manually. It is very rare for me not to use a tripod anyway, so the only penalty is just a bit more weight which I do not mind.

I will say though, the 2000FCW is the one I reach for most often. I shoot outdoors a lot, and that extra two stops is great by itself to enable not using f/16 for everything, but I have mostly CF lenses, and it is really freeing to set up the shot, and be able to decide in that moment, without changing gear, whether to use the leaf or the focal plane shutter. The obvious advantage is less vibration with the leaf.

I know this might not seem like much. Some people maybe wondering why this is anything they would even care about. Maybe it is a scene where I do not need filters, so any loss of light from that is not happening. In that scenario I usually opt for the focal plane at 1/2000 so that my aperture can get down into the f/8-11 range.

On the other hand, maybe I am using a red filter and a polarizer for a b/w image, so I have already lost 4-5 stops of light, easy choice to switch and use the leaf.

Just keeping my finger’s crossed not to need any repair. I don’t think anyone will fix these FP bodies because there are no parts.

I own a total of 7...

4x 501CM chrome
2x Flexbodies
1x X2D

With exception to the X2D, they are no longer made, are likely to be what I finish out my career and life with and it's good to have a few around for spare parts if things go quiet on the service front.

three manual 500c1s.2nd as a back-up. third inherited. Great in the studio if you need to switch quickly between 50,80 and 250mm lenses nd because they are just plain fun to have, look at and work with.

You answered your own question. Once you have a body for every lens you own, it's enough

I am struggling to add another one. The black ones are too plain, the F series to delicate. A late-model 500C/M in chrome, with a CF lens, and the newer WLF with plastic button, and a A12 with dark slide holder, is still the essence of Hasselblad in my view.

Then to be just barely practical, It seems when you sit back and wonder if you are still a shooter or if you are a collector now, it's time to say you may have enough Hasselblad cameras to do what you need to. This is very true until the next one you just need to use shows up. Backups are Always needed...

Two. When I travel both hold the same film each with a different focal length lens. Never a chance of confusion as to different iso or film type

I have 2* 503CW and a SWC/M. The second 503 was originally intended as a spare. I did not really need a spare but the price was too good to let it pass.

Now I have one with a 44x33 focusing screen for use with digital back, and the other with a regular focusing screen. Using different bodies is easier than changing the focusing screen.

I never carry two bodies when I travel with the 503. Only a couple film backs and between 1 and 3 lenses depending on the mood of the moment

I own the 503 CX and the 903 SWC.

I have been tempted by the ArcBody, FlexBody and XPAN, but never enough to actually buy any of them. I guess I have enough.

Blasphemer! It is NEVER "enough"

Au contraire, I have been at this level of Nirvana for many years. That allows me to enjoy what I have at a higher spiritual level.
