i asked ultrafine about the xtreme 100 in 120. They said it is the same emulsion as the 35mm film. Thats great news. this also gives us a little more info about who makes the film. Kentmere does not come in 120 sizes. but the ilford pan 100 and 400 does. the box of the 120 400 xtreme screams ilford.
I've never used Ilford Pan 100 or 400, but if it's truly the same emulsion as the Xtreme 100 135 film I'm in for sure. I really do like the Xtreme 100 135 stuff and the price is darn good in bulk anyway. I was going to order another 100' of xtreme 100 in 35mm tonight and might just have them throw in a couple of rolls of Xtreme 100 in 120 just to try with some pyro developer. The 35mm Xtreme in Pyrocat-MC or WD2D+ is very, very nice. I got my fingers crossed!
It won't be the same as Ilford Pan 100 or 400, because Harman refuses to sell any of there Ilford or Kentmere labelled film with any other labeling.
But the films could be similar.
what times do you use for the x100 in pyro? I have some pyro HD but have yet to use it with the xtreme.
yes I have. It is the same film and very good for the price. based on my usage I am guessing its ilford pan 100, which is a not as "high quality" as fp4. maybe the first run batch or some other not quite first quality batch. I have shot 40 rolls of it in 120 and just ordered anopther 40, although they only sent me 20.
yep. here are a few. 1 min agitation then stand for 49 min. really sharp. 2+2+500
I think the Ultrafine Xtreme films are very good: 135-100, 135-400, 120-100 (relatively new) and 120-400. I develop them in D76 stock solutions.
The Ultrafine Plus film is lousy (I've tried only 2 rolls of the 120-100).
I know from your previous post that you are just starting out and I think that's great, but you will find out that everything written in the Massive Development Chart is not "tried and true". Another words, these times and temps were not put out by a controlled lab. They are submitted by folks like you and me. Also, Ultrafine Xtreme times and temps only match for 35mm. What about Ultrafine Xtreme 120? Kentmere film is not made in 120. Now it could be Harmon slits special for the Photo Warehouse, but I really doubt that. I would like to know, but I guess it's not that important. All I know is the Xtreme labeled films from them are very good for the price. In fact, I believe that Ultrafine Xtreme is the same film as Kentmere. Because their developing times are totally same.

why doesn't someone just call photo warehouse up and ask the country of origin of the film, instead of speculating ?
they used to sell rebranded ilford back in the day and it used to say " made in england " ... i am guessing if you ask what continent it
is from they might tell you. they are good folks, and apug sponsors... i'm still chewing down my supply of made in england fb/11x14, and rc 8x10.
no complaints.
Yes, it has all the wrappings of a Harman/Ilford film right down to the backing paper. My question is would they run special batches of 120 film just for Photo Warehouse???? I can see 35mm film just being canned and labeled Ultrafine Xtreme, but 120 would have to be a special run if it's Kentmere since Kentmere 120 does not exist.the boxes do say made in the EU. I have asked them before and they wont give an answer, which is clearly their prerogative.
How do you know for sure? Not that it really makes a difference at all. It wouldn't matter if it were made by Nabisco 'cause it's still good film. Of course curiosity will eventually kill the cat so the sooner we know the more lives it will save.It is Kentmere. The 100 and 400 but the 120 versions are not sold in Europe just the U.S.
